To me this song feels like its metaphorical of an emotional journey. Imagine a litte kid playing with the only toys he has, in a dark place, alone in his cage. The melody is playful but simple and repeated: expressing how he is playing with his toys over and over again, and he has nothing else to do because he has nothing else to live for. The one low note you can hear repeating itself in the background expresses his inner fear of how alone he is, and it is always there, he cannot escape from it. But then the song grows more passionate as he gains hope and begins to push to see the outside. The G directly after the F note at 1:55 sounds like he is taking baby steps at a time to see what is outside, he takes a peek and then pauses.. and then takes another step, and another. Until at 2:15 he is running and his heart is pounding and the melody begins to change, he is reaching for more. And then at 2:34 he has finally reached it. What he has yearned for his entire life, and that is too find true happiness. The D F and B flat arpeggio going up and down sounds happy to me, its like hes stepped out of a dark place into a paradise and he is looking around at all the trees and butterflies and the bright blue sky and hes overwhelmed with emotion for the first time ever.
