DeSantis can offer Trump a pardon in exchange for his voters, which could be enough to get him over the line. If Trump doesn't take the deal DeSantis doesn't run and waits until 2028. Win-win.

It's a bullshit charge and I can't see how they could possibly make it stick. Election campaign funds are routinely used for stuff like this. Normally all that happens is they get caught in an audit and then have to pay a minor fine, because in order to make a criminal charge stick, you have to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that the candidate _knowingly_ and _willfully_ broke campaign finance laws, which is impossible. It's very obviously just someone trying to intimidate Trump out of running in 2024.
