DID YOU KNOW: The end of the show, when Bea tells Vera who get help, Bea accidentally says Vera’s line. AS FILMED: Bea: (To Vera) “Don’t just stand there! Shut up! Go get some help!” (FADE OUT) AS SCRIPTED: Bea: (To Vera) “Don’t just stand there!” Vera: (As she starts to kneel down to check on Lizzie, replies to Bea) “Shut up, and go get some help!” (FADE OUT) That explains why Vera just stands there looking at Bea. Val knew she stepped on Fiona’s line. And, Fiona nearly burst out laughing about it.

I can't say that I'm sorry to see the back of Gillespie. He was such an obnoxious swine and deserved all he got in the end. The fact he opened that letter proves he felt guilty of unfair play because if he had nothing to hide then he would have just allowed the letter to go through, in the knowledge there would be no consequences against him. He seriously lacked self-control and allowed the position of power to go to his head. He wasn't content with upsetting the prisoners, but even turned the officers against him in the end. Erica has her faults, but even during an investigation there was no excuse for him being so unpleasant and applying so much relentless pressure in all directions. Doreen deserves credit for showing strength of character and standing up to that copper. A while back she would have succumbed to that kind of pressure and confessed all.

I've noticed how Jim Fletcher switched about addressing inmates by first names not always by surnames, almost as much as Erica, whereas Colleen Powell almost never addressed an inmate by first name. What was the idea of addressing inmates by surnames when talking one-to-one to them, isn't it disrespectful?
@pauliejay4161

Not really - it's one of those position of power things. I went to schools where teachers addressed the students by their surname, in the military seniors always use surnames to those that are subservient to them.

YEH! The look on Colleen's face when Lizzie asks how long she's got to wait for a reply to the letter, It's a matter of life and death, Powel is dying to laugh, that's so funny man. They must have had some right fun filming some of these scene's, She couldn't keep a straight face LOL.

''I still got me palpitations'', oh, how I love Lizzie, she cracks me up, and as of eps 168 she remains my favourite character. Here are my top 5 favourite characters so far, in order of; 1. Lizzie 2. Wally 3. Helen Smart 4. Erica Davidson 5. Chrissie Latham Wally is straight up there. I love his ''common law'' attitude towards life which I deeply resonate with being a man who lives with that mindset too. 9th February 2023.

As a rules and regs obsessed numpty, I don't think Gillespie would have opened that letter. If he truly thought that the lies of a prisoner could bring him down, there wouldn't be a prison officer left in the service. Good storyline though. And nice to see him gone in such a way.

Blind… she’d have gone full out to impress him, she’d have done a few deals with the women to make Davidson look like a fool and probably called him something ridiculous like ‘Sir Gillespie’. He’d have had Ferguson made governor within a fortnight

I think they couldn't speak because they were being paid as extras. If they did talk they'd have to pay them a lot more money. That system probably doesn't exist now.

He is a member of the union. Even when he was acting governor he attended a union meeting. Besides, it would be an industry union - like the police union, everyone is a member regardless of rank.
