I think in the beginning Ferguson would be impressed with Vera's discipline approach to the prisoners, vera then overhears a conversation between Ferguson and Fay Quinn, taking payment from the book, then runs to Meg and tells her what she overheard, then they discuss that they might have another Jock Stewart on their hands. Vera confronts Ferguson, then Ferguson invites Vera to dinner to clarify things, Vera accepts the dinner invitation for the sake of a night out and having a new friend. Over time with the Hannah Simpson saga, Vera is disgusted by the fact that she's a lesbian and says to Ferguson, "you're sick", then Ferguson just grins and inhales her cigarette, then some real confrontations occur and competition for the governors job.

It was sweet of them to make Harry Wheeler come out of it as a good guy at the end of the food dispute. As an ex delivery driver myself I approve! Mind, whenever I had parcels for one of the Doncaster prisons on my daily run the chances were that I'd throw it back into the cage until I had a few to deliver at once, or maybe the reserve driver would take it out and deliver it. Because they used to let our lorry through the first gate and lock us in whilst we waited for someone to come and receive the parcel/s. This could be anything up to an hour or more. Which meant at busy periods when I couldn't risk potentially losing the time from my daily run, that the prison wasn't getting their parcels.

There's a lot of bitching and moaning about Prisoner being boring. First, if you actually relax and pay close attention, you'll see Ann's brilliance is shining. She's handling her position like a boss, finally using tactics Davo would have. She has come a long way since she was first introduced. She was all for the department and so concerned about paperwork that both her staff and the prisoners were suffering. Now look at her, against the department, caring for her staff and the prisoners, and handling the bad men behind the scenes like a pro. Then there's the Scared Straight storyline. Maybe my memory served me wrong but I don't recall this exact storyline being used. One person hundreds of episodes ago being in the prison to try and straighten her out hardly is the same as a group of juvenile delinquents, all but one having huge egos and blowing hot air. One of them cut Lou Kelly's hand, ffs! There's excitement in there if you actually watch it. The little delinquents get owned and taught lessons. How is that not a bit satisfying? Then there's Willie and May. Yeah, sometimes they can get annoying but I've yet to not be annoyed with all major characters as some point. Willie has some hilarious moments. I thought when she had amnesia she was hilarious, barricading herself in the cell and hunched in a corner looking like a scared rabbit saying she wasn't gonna ever come out again lol Don't forget about the recently departed Ettie. I liked her about as much as Lizzie. The two would have been hysterical together. Nora isn't Bea Smith or Myra Desmond but she's been a fair, honest, and tough-when-needed top dog without using violence. She's helped resolve some conflicts like when Lexi nearly screwed up the press job for them. Pippa, as annoying as she can be, is learning to be more sympathetic to the women and that she isn't as grand as she thought. There's some nuggets during this time. I think all shows have some lackluster times. Prisoner has enough excitement, comedy, entertainment, etc. that it makes up for some of its duller storylines. Second, if you're that annoyed that all you can do is bitch about it, there's always that little x at the top right of the screen. Your bitching is more annoying that the storylines you're bitching about.
