I think Bea Smith was Joans greatest enemy , The Freak hated Bea and it was mutual . Rita was more of a comedy top dog but the show by this stage had actually already been cancelled. late 85

@@andrews6341 yeah but there is a difference between nemesis and enemy. The freak had a lot of enemies. Bea, Ballinger, Len Murphy, rita etc but Reb was the one that got under her skin, she had that personal connection because of her father and Reb would always surprise her too - the catwalk and last ep she grabs her and the freak is a bit scared. Yes the Freak wanted rid of Reb more than anyone i reckon. And Kean beat her in the end. That last shot of Reb outside the prison when she does the james Dean. Great ending for her leaving us wondering...was she faking it??? Reb Kean. Prisoner's greatest!

MsPerogi From what I heard was that Grundy Television fired Fiona Spence who played Vera Bennett, Gerard Butler who played Jim Fletcher and more recently, Patsy King who played Erica Davidson. Also, according to Val Lehman on a Network 10 channel video here on KZbin, celebrating 40 years of Prisoner with Amanda Muggleton (Chrissie Latham), a new producer at the time didn't like Val, so Bea ended up leaving in episode 400. 😲

I loved the biker scene and also Rita. I felt that the bikers drove behind the prison van to prove to Rita they were her loyal friends. They stopped their bikes as soon as the gate open as not to cause any bother. RESPECT.

iguanna41 You will probably be let down sadly, about 50 episodes in of Rita and it turns out she's not as tough as she makes out. The character gets completely buried by Merle Jones in a fight they have and Rita cries herself to sleep because she lost and then spends weeks hiding from her. She also loses a fight to Laurelie, an average mother in an embarrassing one sided way. She's no Bea Smith.

No matter how many times I watch these, I still can't fathom how any of them who are at all capable don't just go over and bash Lou every time she opens her mouth. I have a lot of patience and I would find it very difficult not to. Some of my favorite scenes involve Lou Kelly writhing in pain, which in itself proves what a good actress Louise Siversen is.
