I had an aunt who was dying from lung cancer in 1986 and she would get so cold that she would go outside with a long sleeved shirt and what they called jogging pants here in the dead of summer. She lost all of her hair from the chemo. The damned cancer got into her brain and before she passed away they had to drill a hole.into her skull to relieve the pressure. She died on Friday June 13th, 1986. She lived long enough to see my cousin Tina; her daughter graduate from school. We have a photo of her and my uncle at the graduation exercises. She is in a wheelchair and she had a wig.

We have seen so many great characters in PCBH, too many to mention here, but one of my favs has to be Joyce Barry/ Pringle ! She started of as a back ground character, then grew into a main character. At times Joyce has been totally useless as an officer, but I love the way she stands up to some of the prisoners, and especially Joan Ferguson. Sometimes we wonder where the hell her brain went to, but she also shows she has a back bone. Well done to Joy Westmore for creating one of the most interesting Characters in PCBH. Please don't tap dance anymore though !! LOL

The lady who played Alice (Lois Collinder) spoke recently to the "Talking Prisoner" podcast about the final episodes. She said there was one scene with Joan (Maggie Kirkpatrick) where the production team told them they could only have one take, as they were literally taking the set down around them as they filmed. Sharp eyed viewers will notice some of the sets and furniture were recycled for use in "Neighbours" which was filmed at the same site as soon as Prisoner had ended.

I love the music in the recap at the beginning. Prisoner has produced some great incidental music throughout the show.

They were all library stock pieces, but I agree that whoever was in charge of choosing the music did a great job. The music heard during the recap is particularly good, and is played numerous times in various edits during the final few episodes, to best effect when Joan makes her fateful decision, where it adds a certain kind of poignancy; a hard thing to do with the Freak. The final, final few notes ever heard on the show are especially well matched to the moment. They create a feeling of finality, but also of peace.

Patrick Nabors Rodney's easy to deal with (even by that corny-arse out of place prat, Tom Lucas) as he is nothing like Joan. Remember though, Rodney was provoked when he first arrived and antagonised by the women, and they act like they did nothing wrong to provoke the whole situation. I do feel sorry for him, to an extent, unlike the bitch Freak and the women, who think they can attack him, verbally and psychically, and he's not allowed to fight back because they're women. This particular version of women are allowed to be warriors and victims, which is an insult and a joke to other women and humans as a whole. And if HE is a warrior or a victim, he's had a go at, or taken the piss out of, because he's male, which goes to show the bullshit double standards in this era and script of Prisoner. He's seen as a coward no matter what he does, and they aren't allowed to even be called a coward or a bully, otherwise he would be told to man up, but they can say and do what they want to who they want. Nutty sociopathic characters, who should have all been taken down a peg or two. Thank God, this programme, which became unrecognisable, and not as entertaining and loveable it once was, came to an end in episode 692, in 1986.

1️⃣ 1/7/17 - Tom the teacher is an interesting character, he's a bit of a non-conformist. Merv and Joyce are excellent characters in the show. I suppose we had to see the black gloves of Fergo before the series ends. Fergo sockin to Merle was good ole Fergo. I like the slow fade to black and the longer pause than usual before the theme tune plays.

Why did it take so long for everyone to figure out that if they just didn't respond to Joan and Rodney they would cave? Even when I was in high school (and it wasn't a plan), we all behaved heaps better for the teachers we liked and gave the others less respect, I suppose. We were not troublemakers, it was an advanced class.
