Interesting insight here into Vera's past and what made her the person she is today.She's as much a prisoner as those she purports to guard.

Now this episode has me feeling sorry for Vera. I was surprised enough that she had the decency to bring in the present for Lizzie from Doreen but extra surprised when she lied to keep Doreen out of trouble when it was discovered the present was a cake drenched with alcohol.

Here's a gem of an episode. skipped most of Doreen and Karen admittedly. but the beautiful moments.. Vera showing she has some warmth buried deep inside that ice cold vinegary heart. and oh, the comedy.. Love Lizzie! The play made me belly laugh in a few spots. Meg reminds us that she is a mother, and finally tells Vera to shove it! Teared up at the end for the women who were nostalgic for their loved ones. The roller-coaster of emotions is what makes this show. Can't thank you enough for uploading all of these.

@chanineclark46339 жыл бұрын
I love seeing the softer side to Vera. I think it's down to her parents that she is the way she is, her mother showed her no affection and I think her father was a crim(due to the fact her mother constantly said he was rotten) this explains why she is so hard on the prisoners.

Chanine Clark Plus Bea bullies and treats Vera like shit, even when Vera is nice or did nothing to deserve it. Lizzie is like a sheep to Bea and goes along with it all--sad as Lizzie is the only one Vera has a real soft spot for

@@k8lynmae It's because Vera wouldn't allow Bea to go to her daughters funeral. I still don't understand why it was Vera who decided that, after all it was supposed to be Mrs. Davidson that done that,not Vera. Bea is simply a smartass.

Katelyn They all have their good and bad moments throughout the series. Lizzie goes back and forth liking Vera and not liking Vera (even helping to get rid of her) right up to the end, regardless of Vera liking her, not liking her, but wanting her to be more trustworthy and dignified. I'm sure that Vera would have loved Lizzie as a mother instead of her own mother. 😃
@Summer21.4 жыл бұрын
Chanine Clark I think Vera's father was a narcissist, not a criminal at all. Vera's mother had no room to talk about laying into Vera's father and blaming him for everything, when she was an irresponsible, hypocritical narcissist herself. She sadly turned Vera into one as well by laying into her verbally, mentally and emotionally, and showing her how to be so cynical, bitter and toxic in life. 🙁😔

aww... I am only half way through, Vera really softens up when it comes to Lizzie. She didn't tell that it was Doreen that left the rum cake for Lizzie... and she pocketed that card that she intends on giving to Lizzie.... but I know something is going to piss her off, like the play and she is going to get mean again. She is only that way because she feels the need to guard her emotions. Poor Vera and the actress that plays Vera is AMAZING because there are so many sides to Vera, such a complex character. I love this Vera so much more then the new Wentworths Vera. As far as Bea Smith goes... the Wentworth version and this one are so different that I can't pick one over the other. I like them both... Same goes for Frankie. Very different and both a joy to watch. Darn it!!!! Lizzie thinks that Vera was being mean and stole her cake, wish Vera would of just told her that Fletch smelled the rum and would not let her have it but Vera saved the card for her... and that she did not want Doreen to get into trouble. Guess its like the boy who cried wolf, Vera is always so mean that when she does try to do something nice people think the worst lol

I love Fiona Spence as Vera! She's such a kind, sweet, quiet person in real life. Show's what an incredible actor she is. She's 69 now and her voice hasn't aged a day. I must say I love Carol Burns Frankie Doyle over Nichole DaSilvas Frankie, and I hate that Frankie was killed off in prisoner. I remember Carol's last interview before she died last year. The interviewer said, "You were terrifying as Frankie" to which she laughed and responded "Well thank you! I was supposed to be".

Fiona Spence is a lovely lady in real life, she was born here in the UK i think in Kent if i remember rightly. I enjoy seeing Lizzie fake her turns when the need arises. Her dodgy heart comes in so handy at times.
