I live 20 miles from Coventry but people still use that phrase here. What I've always wanted to know is whether people in Coventry itself use the phrase. Do Australians still use it today? I have a feeling they probably don't.

33:04 - Blimey! Jim's new girlfriend, Sarah, seems to live in Acorn Antiques (yet another place with no ceilings). I do hope she doesn't end up in Wentworth. And that judge's ruling made no sense. How can he rule that Lizzie should get a heavier sentence for provoking Kay White? Firstly, there's no evidence apart from Lizzie's testimony. With Kay White dead, it is impossible to prove that Lizzie was the only one who provoked her. Secondly, Lizzie was acting to stop Kay White running a book in prison. Since that's an illegal activity, the judge is effectively punishing Lizzie for trying to stop an illegal act.

Doreen was rather silly to go confessing the truth like that, but Erica could have shown more gratitude and appreciation to her for opting to tell the truth, even if it was belatedly. For Erica to show such ignorance and disrespect up to the point where she would interrupt her and not allow her to finish what she was saying was just unprofessional and very rude. So much for honesty being the best policy. Transferring Doreen to maternity was not the worst thing she could have done though because she likes kids and the change of scenery may do her some good. Poor Lizzie, five years is ridiculous and that judge is a complete swine! How Linda could witness that and live with herself is just beyond me.

20/12/19 - 3:59 - Vera's sneer! Reminds of how a cat smells! After a short period of smelling something, they open their mouth slightly to finally inhale and partly taste what they are smelling. Sort of gurning! 🐱!

So do the characters on Y&R . Back in the 80s Dallas was the number 1 prime time soap here in America and everyone on that programme drunk like fish too. Larry Hagman was a hard core alcoholic too. According to his co star from I Dream Of Jeannie, Barbara Eden; He kept alcohol in his dressing room and if he didn't like the way a scene went he deliberately would throw up on the set. He had a liver transplant too in the 1980s.

5 years for manslaughter would be about right here in the UK. 20 to life would apply to murder, something completely different. (Bearing in mind that we, like the Aussies, don't have capital punishment.)

They had capital punishment in certain Aussie states back then tho. Its part of a significant storyline and character in the not too distant future. Dunno if you've watched Prisoner before or not, so won't say anymore than that. :)

Kblogg 777 I know who your talking about, she in my opinion was one of pcbh's nastiest characters. I think she's a great character in the show though.

@Kblog777 Wasn't the infamous Nola McKenzie's back story was she had a "death sentence in WA" hanging over her so "killed one of the clowns in here" to get a life sentence in Victoria. 😮 Mind you capital punishment had been scraped right across Australia by then! 😉 Looking forward to seeing Nola's trail of mayhem fairly soon. 👍

In one of the next episodes Bea implies she's already 40 years old, although the actress was only 36 or 37.
