Just to add to my previous comment (was writing on the bus on the way to work) I started watching the whole series from last September and finished it this morning before work. Back in the day I watched from late 87 to early 90s when it was shown on British television at a late time (usually around 11pm) but never saw past some early episodes (never saw Bea's exit) but remember Judy Bryant a lot. Some other great characters like Toni Mcnally, Kay White and the Ballinger woman (forget her first name). Maggie Kirkpatrick (Joan) is an outstanding actress and didn't realise at the time her versatility. Thank you for uploading the whole series.

Without a doubt the BEST Prisoner episode in hundreds of episodes (possibly ever)! The exposure of cover ups of abuse of women in institutions is a subject that is personally very dear to me, and while I know this is only fictitious, I'm glad a TV show proved that the right thing can happen and justice prevails. Those scenes at the end with Lorelei with her baby were just heartbreaking!
@IndianChiefDarkhouse7 жыл бұрын
of course these episodes were written at a time when a lot of institutional abuse of children, women and men was starting to be made public and no country was exempt. We were all feeling the force of the horror of it all

It would have simpler to just have Merv pass a message to Philip Clayton and tell him to wait by the fence. One of the girls with a strong arm could lob the tape over the fence and then Clayton could pick it up and scarper before the screws could act. 19:20 It was a pleasure seeing Rodney stand up to the Freak. 43:00 "I'm sick to death of you, Dwyer!" It's great the way Joan talks to her immediate superior like he's just a troublesome schoolboy. I liked her weary facial expressions in that scene, too.

CRACKING EPISODE!!!!! Even with reading the comments before watching [which I LOVE - doesn't spoil a damn thing!!!] -- my heart was in my throat when Merv finally made it out of Wentworth but was waiting to be let through the gate! I HOLLERED "GO MAN GO"!!! Damn you Lorelei.... after everything you and the other women have gone through thanks to The Freak you just have to save her arse! But at least you finally told her to eff off. The Ingleside Psychiatrist is a a decent bloke. Touching scene with Lorelei and Baby Boy Zoe. It was a hoot to see. Meg on the telly... The Queen's Speech indeed! LOL at Rita nearly knocking Rat-faced Rodney out!!! If there is any justice Mr. Dwyer will be long gone but of course even real life doesn't work like that with politicians. The Freak is a hot mess ... still bucking for Deputy after all is said and done. Good on Reyno for sticking to her guns though. + It's disturbing how a few of the women actually sound a lot like Lexi at times - had to remind myself that she's long gone now!!!
@Summer21.2 жыл бұрын
Rita’s an arsehole no more than the Freak is and some other characters at this point in the series are. Rodney is an easy target for those weasels at Wentworth who want to play the victim/warrior card constantly.

With Meg being the longest serving member of the cast I wonder what the faces of the past was thinking when they saw her on the telly and listening to all the shenanigans that's been going on at the prison (ya know Fletch the letch, po face, vinegar, Erica, Conway, Steve Faulkner, Doreen, Lizzie, Judy, Dennis Cruickshank etc.). And her second husband *BOB* but I can guess what he was thinking as he believed he and his daughter was so much better then anyone and everyone connected to the prison eventhough his daughter was an inmate 🤣😂 That show they was on should have been reminded that Joan was on the news a few years earlier also when Cass and Jude was on the roof after she poisoned Minnie

@@sandrajohnson5804if Taya Stratton left you convinced that the way she portrayed Spider was an extension of her true personality... she did her job as an actor. Get on ya Merv.... *Moves clenched hands and forearms in a circular motion* ---> Go Merv, Go Merv, Go Merv.... whoop whoop. As for Kath and Rita teaming up and agreeing on a deal, w0w, never thought I would see the day. An endearing scene I thought. Really LOVE how they alternated between showing everyone tuning into the programme from Joan to Merv and Reno to Dwyer to the women listening via the radio. And the contrast between Merv all smiley and Reno looking serious when Joycie was on was a nice touch. I immediately burst into tears when Lori leapt up and ran towards the door to her room when she saw Zoe. Nothing else to say but what a cracking episode that was! Oh, and welcome back to the three musketeers that are Meg, Marty, and Joycie, yaaaaaaaaay, ha. 5th January 2024

So it turns out that Merle was the unsung hero who changed the course of life at Wentworth prison. My favorite moment of hers was when Kath came to rescue her from the mental hospital and Merle literally whimpered in terror over her involuntary commitment. I think the show handled the Merle character with great delicacy and sensitivity in the actor who portrayed Merle was absolutely sensational which my understanding is her first and only for as an actor. Absolutely amazingly unbelievable.
