This is one of the best books sold to the public about geopolitics. Read about Iran. Ive just been a wife and mother in my life, but at least i can critically think based on whatever important knowledge given.

I agree with you. But suprises can happen sometimes. Genghi's main force come from the desert part of kwarezmian empire. No one could have guessed an army was coming through that part of the land . It seemed impossible. One more thing i would like to point out is, technology is advancing fast. New vehicles can be created to cut through the ice. I was listening to the preview of the book. It's a great book for sure. But, In my opinion i think the book focuses more on the traditional approach to warfare . Modern warfare is very much different from traditional sword play. We need strategical locations yes! but is that enough to shield you from a intercontinental missiles? which can outmaneuver radar system, Their are nukes. some folks will tell you who needs to fight when you can throw a fat boy. My point is you can't really trust geographical barriers and use it as a shield,

using nukes as an argument against geography is stupid. if both sides have nukes, neither will use them as a bargaining chip. pak vs ind or ind vs china wars never led to nukes or even the korean or vietnamese war never led to nukes. afghans won despite not having nukes due to geography.

Then why does he claim the ports in Murmansk and Vladivostok freeze, when the rarely don*t and if they do they use ice breakers. And the invasion of Crimea is for a warm water port, when they already have their main navy port there?

Any non fiction book lacking a bibliography should just be called historical fiction or opinion pieces. Frequently found myself looking up what was presented in the book to find it's fundamentally not true. The geography of China, history of South America and MENA, etc. Was a "hey feel good about western culture and how it'll always be alive king 🖤" cope piece
