@@FrankFreezy_the husband told the priest they had killed 16 kids, and she told Keller that she didn’t even remember Bob until she read about him in the paper, so who knows how many total. It’s so sad to see the lasting damage on Bob and Alex. I can’t remember if you picked up on it, but Alex was there that morning in the RV because that was where his old childhood home used to be. It was thanksgiving and he probably missed his old family, and since he had the iq of a 10 year old (from being drugged and tortured) he probably just wanted to play and have fun and sing with the girls and feel like an innocent happy little kid again. It’s sad he was aware enough to remember his old life but unable or too afraid to go back or go to police or anything. Physically he could leave but mentally he couldn’t. 😢

Also! I don't see any comments talking about it. But you may have seen or heard about it before I type this comment. But the entire hammer scene by Hugh Jackman was 100% improvised. If I recall correctly, Hugh did make mention of it to Denis, but both Terrence Howard and Paul Dano had no idea Hugh was going to do that scene. Shout out to Terrence for either actually having that fear or acting it, and big shout out to Paul for trusting in Hugh's method. It's one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie.
@FrankFreezy_9 ай бұрын
That is freaking amazing. Actors are just a different breed. The fact that something like that can happen during a scene, and the rest of the actors perfectly play along and improvise. Freaking remarkable. I agree. One of the best scenes for sure.
@valmacclinchy9 ай бұрын
Yeah, the movie set was very collaborative. Jake and Hugh each brought elements to their characters, and made suggestions which the director took. It's great to feel free as an actor like that...
@11musicluva3 ай бұрын
The part about Alex choking the dog. When you have a lady that kidnapped you at age 6, kept you on some LSD/Ketamine drug, abused and tortured you and she has a dog, the only thing you can do to get back at her is hurting the dog. It doesn't make it right, but I'm just explaining where that behavior stems from. Cause he was very innocent towards kids and even terrified when it came to any adult.
@valeries609 ай бұрын
This was my favorite reaction of yours so far. Also, the eye twitch that Loki does throughout the movie had me wondering if Jake G has a tic in real life, it was that believable. But apparently, as Jake was reading through his script he decided to add that in there because it’s a common sign of anxiety and someone being overloaded - with information, with stress, with everything.

Great reaction!!! Alex wasn't exactly innocent. He took them just to play, He knew where they were and that his "aunt" had them. The other creepy dude was "Bobby Taylor", he got away when he was little and went off the deep end. The aunt said she forgot about "Bobby Taylor" until she saw him in the paper. I can't believe Hugh Jackman didn't get nominated for best actor by the Academy Awards.

The thing about this movie for me is how we all interpret what we see and hear differently. They played with us. The kid probably didn't say that in the parking lot, or strangle his dog. That's just how it was interpreted by a desperate man. Which was probably hard to achieve in film.
@FrankFreezy_9 ай бұрын
This is a very interesting take. I like it a lot. I took the movie at face value and believed the kid said all those things. But what you said makes so much sense. it plays with our minds and probably Mr keller's mine as well

I think after this, watching Nightcrawler would be worthwhile if you haven't watched it before. not only it has an amazing story it also shows Jake Gyllenhaal playing a completely different role than he had here. it's just crazy how one actor can play different characters and fits them both perfectly. also another movie that I suggest is 'The Salesman' of Asghar Farhadi. because it is kinda similar to Prisoners.

He's going to prison for a long time. He kidnapped an innocent person who was already kidnapped. He tortured said person, and it didn't lead to solving his daughter's abduction.
@FrankFreezy_8 ай бұрын
Good point
@jeremyroberts88228 ай бұрын
But couldn’t you argue that because of the situation he was so severely distressed mentally that he wasn’t of sound mind when he did the things he did? I’m not saying he would get zero prison time but I think with a good lawyer it wouldn’t be a super long sentence.
@goaway99772 ай бұрын
Alex may be innocent in the sense that he was abused over his lifetime in such a way that makes him mentally incapacitated. But it's not like Hugh Jackman kidnapped and tortured some random suspect that had nothing to do with it. Alex was the actual abductor after all, even though he wasn't the ringleader. But you're right that what he did was still highly illegal and he would almost certainly go to prison. But then again you never know. There was the famous case of Gary Plauche who shot and killed the man who abducted his son, as the man was in handcuffs being escorted by police in an airport. And it was all captured on film by news crews too. Gary revieved a 7 year suspended sentence and 300 hours community service, despite killing a man in police custody and after his son was returned to him alive. That was in Louisiana in 1984, and I doubt there would be many courts so lenient today. But I do think there are many courts that would go fairly easy on Hugh Jackman and give him 3 to 5 years behind bars rather than throwing the book at him.

I like this movie. and understands the frustration of not knowing where your child is if they are dead...sick, injured while being kidnapped, I understand but I also don't think kidnapping someone who may or may have something to do with the kidnapping and torturing this person is a good idea because if they end up breaking they can tell you what YOU want to hear just bc they want the torture to stop and if it's not the truth the only thing you've done is wasting time with someone who has nothing to do with it or just doesn't want to tell you or just lie bc they want to ang fu** with your mind (because some people are that f up) so at the end it's just wasting time when you could have help the police or whatever . so I understand Hugh's character but I also think that what what he did is stupid.. i hope i'm clear english is not my native language 😅

We all have light and dark, good and evil within us, but like the story of the wolf which will u feed? Because the one u feed is the one that wins. Much like other films like “Mystic River” and "Along Came a Spider" Being a pacifist Im so against violence of every kind, BUT God help anyone who messes with my kids or grandbabies. Id like to think Id follow my passive ways, but cant promise anything. If ur going to end urself for ur crimes (of ending someone else), do it before u commit the crimes. Better yet, learn to respect and love all, including urself. Thanx so much, hope u feel better soon, Peace
