I worked at Lake Erie Correctional Institution for over nine years as an RN. Prior to CCA purchase of the facility it was owned by the state of Ohio and privately managed by a company called, Management and Training Corporation, or MTC. That company was for profit as well but did a very good job in every area that CCA has failed in. We always had high marks during inspections, had many many programs designed to decrease recidivism of inmates, and we had a medical department which was computerized and efficient. When CCA came in, everything went south, everything. The fact that medical went from computers to assist with passing medications in a camp of over seventeen hundred inmates, back to huge book bound printed paper sheets which had to be physically signed by a nurse with each dose, was truly the least of our problems. The change in protocol to which the officers were able to respond to inmate disturbances caused a huge problem with security and increased fighting in the camp. I suppose our officers began to look about as effective to inmates as the soldiers on the seventies show, F Troop. It quickly became a dangerous situation. I don't miss working for CCA at all.

whats so bad about prison labour? I humilates Human rights? so what, if you Kill, murder, torture, rape, mentaly/phyisicaly abuse another Human being you have lost your Status as a human and therefore you should be either killed or Slave material. Its just cold and rational. And thats what the world seems to lack. Poisoning the community, and costing tax payers way too much. And for what? For this rape and drug filled horror house. Nobody deserves to be treated like this, its cruel and ineffective. Liking these doesn't make you cold and rational. It just makes you a sociopath, or just stupid and violent.

@@spwan10 99.9% of private prisons are for low level inmates. Mostly DUI and drug possession charges. Sending addicts to a place where drugs are rampant isn’t helping anyone. I agree that murderers, rapists, pedophiles should be locked up because they are dangers to the community. Addiction is a medical issue and not a incarceration issue and should be treated as such. For the United States supposedly being “the land of the free” we have the highest incarceration rate of any country in the world. Bigger than China and they have four times the population.

The USA made some serious errors when it came to "contracting out" their Prison systems. The Bottom Line and Profit Motive quickly lost sight of any kind of rehabilitation of inmates. They don't want guys to "go straight", they want REPEAT CUSTOMERS just like any profit motivated business. Why rehabilitate if it cuts your Stock Value? "Conflict of Interest", to say the least...

randy109 And yet trump is quoted as saying we need more privatization of our prisons because from what's he's seen they work much better. What a fucking train wreck. @JohnDoe-gm5qr

Damn right they made a serious mistake. It is CCA and other private corporations that are responsible for us having too many laws. They want more catch all laws so they can bring people in for more offenses. What they do is lobby to pass more laws. Some of them are ridiculous laws that serve only a vague purpose and are laws regarding things that were once not illegal. The only things that should be illegal are defrauding, harming or killing, libeling or slandering someone and nothing else. It is because of those laws and the incentives for these corporations to keep people locked up that the USA has more people incarcerated than any other nation.

Just like Drug Rehabs. All these places prey upon those who struggle. Granted if you process the information and system given to you while in either a Drug Rehab or Private Owned Prison you will come out changed for the better. But subliminally everything they teach in Drug Rehabs and everything they let slide with little to low consequences or over the top punishment is to brain wash you and/or groom you to leave the facility with the mindset to relapse and commit crimes. I always noticed in Drug Rehabs that they always focused on relapse, basiclly saying thats all youll ever think about and try to teach you "how to cope" but in those learnings are subliminal grooming to only think to relapse when you leave. In Prison its the same, the programs that they RARELY EVER HAVE, when they do have them theyre grooming the inmates to believe that all they'll ever do when released is think about and commit crimes. Its sick that they intentionally ensure that they'll have "repeat customers"... Disgusting.

And so the most relevant question of all. How much money do you think the privatized prison is going to spend to "rehabilitate" their prisoners? The reality is just the opposite! Rehabilitate!!!!! Hell no. Make the prisoners more bitter and angry. Don't train them in any job skills or help them with an education so when they're released they're out casts and will be welcomed back the next time for an even longer sentence. Our country has lost it's moral compass.

Whenever you "Contract Out" almost any job that requires any level of professionalism and experience Look Out! I have worked as a DoD guard for over 35 years and seen it happen in my Profession. Currently we have at our Facility a standard that can not be reached by some poor schmuck willing to work for $12 an hour with no benefits. Our current team are ALL ex-cop, ex-military or equivalent experience level with some College (we mostly expect to see a minimum of 35 college units on the application). We pay enough and have great benefits so guys will actually stay on the job for 15+ years and treat it as a "career" and not just a "job". The difference is huge. I went through the Police Academy and got medical training at the EMT level AND got two Degrees from local College and University just to qualify for Sergeant. My 35 years experience can not be "purchased". If this job just paid $12 an hour without benefits a guy who is truly qualified will not stay more than the time it takes to find a better paying job with benefits. "Contracting Out" has proven to be an epic failure whenever applied to anything above basic Janitorial Services and even then you attract more thieves and incompetent people. My nephew is a Correctional Officer at a Maximum Security Prison about 50 miles from our town and he is ultra-professional with 8+ years on the job. Replace him with some guy getting $15 an hour with little or no benefits and you are asking for trouble, BIG TIME...

After personally spending years in a CCA owned facility therewas always--plenty of drugs--check, plenty of incompetence--check, tobacco in non smoking facilities--check, fatalities due to lack of medical care--check. Even witnessed inmates die after fights!--Staff impregnated by inmates etc. That corporation is a clown show at best.. Shit quality food... There was a few workers who cared (or appeared to), but the rest were smuggling in contraband, abusing inmates, or women with the"I'M incharge of you evil men--and here is your payback" syndrome.. KY finally got rid of CCA.. Best move they could have done--before the riots broke out and they were burned down!!! CCA sucks and should be shut down everywhere!!! (notice they changed names in 2016? why?---such a bad reputation... Even the ACA was on their payroll when inspection time came annually.. As a former inmate/maintenence worker, there was no way they could pass any inspection with high scores..without the ACA in their pocket.. (Marion Adjustment Center in Marion KY)

America is in the depopulation plan of killing 95% of us. First they make as money as they can off of us, then they kill us. Better find out that death is a lie, too, first. A THOUGHT ON INCARCERATING NON-VIOLENT OFFENDERS (drugs, mild psychological, theft etc) IF YOU READ ALL OF THS PROPS write something or even just a . lol I am not advocating free help for us who got OURSELVES into these problems. i worked my ass off and payed my way through fixing my own problems and making amends with the people i hurt. but i think there is simply more sense less even than a right for addicts less fortunate to receive rehabilitation so more people can become productive members of society again pay more into the system and in turn reduce the humungous WASTE our taxes are swallowed on prisons that are hugely private corporations. the business needs a fundamental change. it would be cheaper due to reduction of imprisioned individuals. it is a FOR PROFIT PRISON SYSTEM in america. never forget that. i love my country im very non radical docile kind of a liberal pansy when it comes to empathy but also a republican when i talk to librals. besides rehabilitataion is already geared towards profiting from services for many companies in america. if i owned a prison rebranding my prison into a rehabilitation center for drug offenders and addicts (instead of jail) and make THEM pay for it and staff parts of the operation. treating people like humans can offer suprising results if enough stimulus is present. this being work, exercise, books, nature. prisons could become literal self sustaining complexes with gardens and fields growing food by the rehabilitees(inmates). as wel as the other facilities along with wardens. the disarmament of severe conditions created in american jails and prisons as demonstrated by the standford prison experiment indicates that less need for aggressive tactics will be required. remember these are drug addicts, first few offenses. these people are like you and me. because I was THE most normal person before my life turned upside down and i deside to make it worse. until i grew some balls and dug myself out. I think giving these people what they so desperately need is a better idea to lock them away and releasing a prison dog who knows nothing but jail and prison ettiquete is supposed to ever be rehabilitated. people who smoke weed go to jail and prison for years and come out extremely damaged individuals. they become fractured, aggressive and often are worse far worse off and geared towards further criminal behavior as a result. we are not combating crime in america or are on a war on drugs. we are effectively BREEDING criminals.

The Nation of Islam has no history of killing anyone, making people disappear or it's members being deported. You should have googled "Nation of Islam" before you made your statement and you wouldn't have made it.This proves that you are brain washed. How can I prove it? Google "Nation of Islam" and see what you come up with.
