Accidents are bound to happen with these trains - and I am not even talking about people walking in the track when trains pass at 160 km/h, but the fact that they run trains so fast over rails that aren’t welded properly. While the clickety-clack sounds remind us about cozy, slower trains of the past - running trains super fast over unwelded joints is a recipe for disaster because of the wear on the track joints and the wheels.

Many thanks for this insight into your country's everyday life, much appreciated. Another detail regarding train safety: If there is no cut in the video, the two trains going in the same direction (first and last in the video) follow up on each other pretty closely - on the same track! I wonder if there is a block system in place that would let one train enter a stretch of track only once vacated by the preceding train. (Which should be standard since Empress Victoria's time.) In practice, this amounts to a time span between two consecutive train passings of two minutes at least, which is more than the duration of the video. Most probably, I didn't catch a cut in the clip, so the actual interval might have been longer. Or so I hope.
@pritamdas55292 жыл бұрын
The actual interval was some 15 mins apart As the first train crossed me the second train that was on the same track was around 20 km behind so it wasn't an issue at all

Here in Germany, IC trains with the 101 in front rush through the stations at 200 km/h............. In India, however, 80 km/h is already very courageous, if you look at the condition of the railways there...........
@pritamdas55292 жыл бұрын
Yes because there is no safety precautions and trains now speed upto 130 kmph
@Berliner0792 жыл бұрын
@@pritamdas5529 It's not just the lack of safety precautions. Here in Germany, too, in 95% of cases you can simply step on the tracks, even where e.g. B. the ICE runs at 350. In India I think they simply switched to electricity and built electric locomotives without adapting signals or tracks at all, which you can clearly hear and see from the rocking wagons. And, last but not least, people have lived with the slowness of trains for decades and are used to just walking the tracks. It is best to equip the locomotives with automatic signal horns, such as fire brigade and police. Switch it on once and let it honk continuously. Then the engine driver can concentrate a little more on the route. He just honks instead of driving.....

Seen a lot of Indian railway stations were people do just wander on the tracks even at busy locations. I'm aware there has been a push as well to introduce more semi-high speed services in the 160km/h+ range. In my view, this baneful practice is nothing but embracing a gory death. Even the educated people are no exception to this obnoxious ways. It just takes a little effort and time to climb over to the FOB and safely reach the other side innocuously. One must seriously brood over this fact that the FOB is constructed spending huge amounts and meant for that.

With a population of over 1 billion people, this is why their trains are so long.
@pritamdas55292 жыл бұрын
Yes this is the result of excess population and carelessness

If you watch it at 2x speed it's almost half as fast as a Japanese slow train.

I have another idea about "high speed trains". These trains just past at full speed.
@oml35224 күн бұрын
Very nice video, but "high speed superfast" is a bit exaggerated for 129 km/h. In France they have trains running at 320 km/h...

I wonder what the fatality rate is in India with pedestrians being hit by trains. It has to be huge.

If there were a few brooms hanging out of the carriages then the platforms could be swept while going through
@krishnamoorthyshivaram80462 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily they slow down If loco pilots get platform track so that they need not switch tracks they will step on the gas Faridabad town station is an example

Long consists, at least by US standards. Impressively clean cars on the outside, too. I take India is not plagued by graffiti "artists".

What happens if the driver just decides he can't be bothered the sound the horn or the horn stops working....? Not sure I even want to think about it! 😯
@srs9973Ай бұрын
Crossing railway tracks is a punishable offence and if the horn fails, then he can go without it but there will be some numbnuts lying minced, torn and dead.... That's why the fatality rate as per railway data is 7 Deaths per day.
