The Premier (like most of the newer small jets) does not have reverse thrust. What it does have is lift dump. On landing roll out, I can deploy all three spoilers atop each wing to help the plane sit down on the wheels and improve braking effectiveness. On my videos, I generally try to show either the spoilers deployed or the spoilers being activated into the "dump" position. Strangely, nobody ever comments so perhaps that is overlooked or just not that interesting.
@Windtee9 жыл бұрын
Premier 1 Driver I noticed the the "spoiler shot" on previous vids, and it adds to the action. I just never had a need to mention it. It's a cool shot showing the devices dumping as dumpers do! :) Keep it in.

Premier 1 Driver + I notice something on all your departures and it's bugging me not knowing. If you have a chance to answer, I would appreciate knowing. You rotate, select gear up and push a button at the top of the panel. I see you push that button in every video. Timer?

Very nice approach into Love. You descended from the north on that landing. I will certainly check out more vids. I'm re-living my student aviation days (1990-1992) through your videos. It is a enjoyable. Thank you.

Howdy! Have enjoyed many of your videos thought it time to chime in and thank you for the great flights. We(brother and I) bought a 200 Astra Gulf and have had a rather challenging time but now am very comfy with the "Beast". We decided to take the family up to Greenland after seeing your approach into that slip of a landing strip. Still checking on runway specs, but that was awesome. If that was your son with you, well, whomever it was, I do believe that is his favorite word also, awesome that is! Keep up the great work of helping us out here navigate the fun and the mundane to an exciting level... Great job Capt. ! Guy

Guy Sutton Greenland is a great spot. And if you go when we did, you should stay a couple days and take in some activities. We both want to return maybe in the later seasons where we will have darker skies for star gazing. Go do it, the experience is well worth it.

Hi mike I think that's what you said your name was once again your videos r amazing I hope you consider yourself a lucky man living the dream kind of thing lol , I don't know what it cost in America for pilot licence or even a jet but in Perth Western Australia very expensive especially when you r only a blue collar worker and have a family to feed , I will keep watching and learning as I'm keen to know and learn about these jets ; thanks mate have a nice day 😄

Very nice, sir. However, checklist? I didn't really see a visual (perhaps just not recorded) of your checklist on approach, but does the airplane do that for you, or are you still completing a manual checklist? I know modern jets have such wonderful systems and computer aided devices, but I would think checklists could never be replaced? Also, if the Premier had thrust reverse, wonder how much that would reduce landing roll-out for short fields?
@gregmink9 жыл бұрын
danpend Most of my checklist video is edited out because it is just not that interesting. I do use them though. The aircraft will also display the checklist on the center screen but I rarely use that one. I have a paper one that I like to use. I'm sure that thrust reversers would shorten the landing roll somewhat, although I don't know that it would significantly impact the places I fly into. Most of the time, the aircraft can land in a lot shorter field than you could legally take off.

Noticed the Premire has no buckets or slots so figured it didn't have any. Looking at the performance sheet that airplane get's off the ground in a hurry under 1400 feet but uses all of 3000 to get stopped depending on weight and winds. Thanks for the videos, used to work for check hauler out of Love field.

Takes some pretty good braking to get that short of a landing.

I'm sure he uses an audio cable that you can buy online that plugs into the panel and into the GoPro itself with your headset adapted through it. I use this setup and it sounds incredible, like Premier 1 Driver's audio does.

I like your videos so much! It's just a pity to see so much automatic pilot control over the machine and so few pilot action on the control column . If I were you I'd have enjoyed to pilot the aircraft a bit more by myself during the approach
@gregmink9 жыл бұрын
Frabusne Thanks for your comments. The busier the airspace the more I tend to let the A/P fly it. That allows me to concentrate on other tasks. Single pilot jet training is centered around full use of all the aircraft systems to help the pilot manage his workload. There are certainly times where I do a lot more hand flying. Typically, departures are all flown by autopilot though as there is a lot going on at that phase. Approaches on a vfr day are flown by hand depending on the airspace. I appreciate your watching!

Premier 1 Driver I check out the lift dumps in all your videos. Since I have a Skylane, no problem retracting my flaps on touchdown for weight on wheels. I don't worry about my brake pads... only need to replace every fourth annual, and stainless disks don't wear much, either...
@dungeonrat8 жыл бұрын
Must say I didn't know of the lack of thrust reversers, so that's a stupid question I don't have to ask. Though I would have to guess that would make landing somewhere high like Aspen or Amarillo a little more interesting especially under adverse weather when traction would be a factor.
@gregmink8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Schroeder Yes, in limited traction situations, the lack of reversers is an issue.

I find it difficult to comment sometimes with you being a consummate pilot …the fear of appearing stupid and all, but do you ever have apprehension flying into the haze of a dusk sunset…eye-strain, poor visibility and the general unknown of real obstacles.
@gregmink9 жыл бұрын
Larry Rivers Hi Larry- apprehension on all landings....its what keeps me alive and will hopefully continue! I try not to take anything for granted regardless of how many times I've "been there, done that".
