Priyanka Chopra Explains WHY She Left Bollywood

Priyanka Chopra is opening up about why she made a major change in her career. Before the global superstar expanded her career into American film and television in the 2010s, she was a Bollywood sensation. In a new interview with Dax Shepard on his "Armchair Expert" podcast, Priyanka shed light on what made her decide to transition away from Bollywood and move to the U.S. "I was being pushed into a corner in the industry. I had people not casting me for reasons. I had beef with people … I kind of was tired of the politics. I was just like, I need a break," she said.

The two biggest problems with Bollywood are: 1) Certain “high profile” directors/producers that are in a click who only cast nepo kids and if someone from outside start doing good, they destroy their careers. And one of those filmmakers have destroyed so many actors’ careers. We all know who that one person is. He used to make God awful 3 hours long overrated melodramatic movies. 2) Indian Actresses once they reach their 30s, they stopped getting movies. Priyanka was doing 4-5 movies per year but towards 2012, she was getting 1-2 movies per year. Even I felt that she wasn’t being offered and that’s all because of age discrimination. Not just PC, Preity Zinta was a victim of this as well and so many other actresses. Anyway, I am so glad Priyanka made this move and her success is kind of like a tight slap to those Bollywood filmmakers/ actors that tried to bully her.

However, after her affair with SRK she got completely sidelined by these biggies coz of gauri Khan (cant blame gauri either). she was not invited to parties, events and not offered movies. I remember it was in the news that time despite playing the lead actress in krissh series, PC was not invited for the success party, as suzzaine and gauri were besties. Bollywood is a dirty place...many girls go crazy, lose their identity...but i am happy that it ended well for PC coz of her grit...today she is a global celebrity, has a loving husband and a successful career...all coz she never gave up ...

well i think one reason was she had affairs with 2 famous married male co-stars and their wives protested and forbade their husbands from working with her, and she also broke up Shahid Kapoor due to her crush on SRK and so lost another male co-star, so in the end she had no male co-stars to work with anymore. Also, she was never the best Bollywood heroine, she just didn't have that super extra wow factor like Kareena Kapoor, or Aishwarya Rai, or Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone. She worked very hard and tried very hard but she was never the No 1 heroine in Bollywood. She courted directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali but never became their muse like Deepika Padukone did. There just wan't any roles for her anymore. Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were both outsiders to the Indian film industry and today they are married and in their mid 30s, but they are still Queens of Bollywood because they managed to maintain excellent platonic working relationships with male co-stars, esp. married ones. PC made the wrong move with SRK, even if she wanted to have an affair with him, she didn't need to advertise it like she did. And she was stupidly mean to Salman Khan when she opted out of his film due to her wedding to Jonas. Salman Khan actually gave her a chance and he is a gentleman but she called his film a potboiler and said it was beneath her. She is just not in the same class as Katrina Kaif, who managed to maintain the best relationship with Salman Khan even after breaking up with him, and at the same time maintain the best relationship with SRK without ever coming on to him, and won universal respect in Bollywood by her gracious forgiving of Ranbir Kapoor for breaking up with her and hooking up with Alia Bhatt. If you want to be Queen of Bollywood, you need to be able to form good relationships with the men and that does not mean coming on to them or pissing them off!

@@MsHarunaMoon Mmmm. She technically arrived in Hollywood in 2015. 3 years of Quantico, she got to work in Baywatch with The rock, Zac Efron- and don’t forget she was the antagonist of the movie. Then she did many movies such as Matrix- few people like you complained about her role, I absolutely loved it. And now she has a feature film coming out and a Russo Brothers show.
