Old Town is an area of Mombasa, Kenya. Situated on the south-east side of Mombasa Island. The Old Town covers an area of 72 hectares and is inhabited by a mix of Swahili, Arab, Asian, Portuguese and British settlers. In 1997, the Old Town and Fort Jesus were submitted by the National Museums of Kenya for selection in UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites.
Buildings in the Old Town are mostly Swahili, however, the many other ones are influenced by Mombasa's trade culture and foreign occupation, with many examples of colonial Portuguese styles from the 16th century and modern Islamic architecture.

The Kenyan lady from Nairobi pretends to be an expert of Old Town and completely misrepresents it instead of selling it. If she thought it wasn't safe then she should have taken a guide to show them Old Town in its entirety. There are many videos on Old Town and its a tourist site so it is a popular place to explore. I just find it odd that it is our own who misrepresent and missell the country and they do it with so much confidence. Wakae Nairobi wawache kuchomea Mombasa. kenya 40 %income is by international tourist coming to kenya to visit MASAI MARA wild life in jungle safari. last time you came kenya few months ago you did not visited it atleast this time visit masai mara junle to watch wild life on 4/5 days conducted tour by joiningg some tour company or atleast go for half day tour to nairobi national park on high bed open truck just om outskirt of nairobi city also buy nairobi famous tropical heat or one stop chevdo for your family at mumbai
