For Yuzuru, even the slightest cheating is betraying himself. And the ISU could have had this gem, this devoted ambassador of figure skating for years and years, but they chose differently. Now let them reap what they sowed, serves them right. Yuzuru is already teaching them a lesson;)

I feel baffled by the fact that there's so much noise about Malinin's so-called 4A when it's completely different from other Axel jumps. The physics is different, as Yuzu explains here. It's not just about how much you pre-rotate but also the force, axis, direction and distance. Malinin's jump is like other quads when you watch it even without slow motion. However, it seems most people (not just ISU but the skating community in general) are not bothered. Max Ambesi seems to be the only one pointing this out.

Indeed, Yuzuru's 4A when he succeeds in landing has all the qualities required, with in addition his traditional back counter entry which is so difficult. If he just did a "simple" 4A that looks like the other quads he probably would have landed it by now. But no, he will not sacrifice quality according to his high standards for ease.🙂

At the gala of the World Team Trophy in April 2023 Malinin did a 4 Axle. And when I saw it, I thought his left foot is totally backwards on the ice before taking off. And I wondered if this is okay, or if this is a kind of prerotation. And now I watched this video in which Yuzuru exactly explains the differnt between his foot position and the skid one more backwards. Now I know my feeling was right. Malinin's Axel may be within the rules, but it's not up to Yuzuru's standards.

According to the expert Maximiliano Ambessi not only his 4A is prerotated but all his quads, if Yuzuru had wanted to do a 4A like Ilia he would have already landed it in competion but he is a perfectionist and his jumps are textbook, not prerotated or underrotated as many do today in day and is accepted by the ISU
