Lithuania didn't bring their top players either; in fact, I only recognize the names of 3-4 players, and I'm from Lithuania, closely following basketball now and then. You're absolutely right in your comment-utilizing the "we didn't bring our best players" argument is futile and overlooked, as numerous countries face this issue. In my opinion, the Lithuanian team seemed quite unstressed, which is understandable. Strangely Lithuania played all of the games this way in this tournament with a crazy percentage from the 3.. Look at the stats. The only difference is that defensively USA sucks (not trying to insult anybody here, but it's objectively true) so it was even easier to score.

The NBA made the game less physical so that Europeans can compete. If you look close they don't allow big physical African American players in the NBA anymore i.e. Demarcus Cousins or Jahlil Okafor, etc. Even this team is just small forwards.

It is a difference between world club team champion and national team world champ. The NBA is a open league, anyone can play and its no cap on nationalities. There's also no rule on where a team can be based. In theory, yes the Euroleauge champion cant play the nba champ, but I can see people saying the NBA champ is the best club in the world.

In my opinion the team wasn´t condition wise well prepared, plus the defensive intensity from first to last second, on smaller court with less space, surprised them. Also USA players often got cought watching the ball while on D and lost their man out of sight. This is a bad habit caused by a lot of iso ball in the NBA, I think. If a certain player in the NBA gets the ball you know he ain´t giving the rock back. There are three most common outcomes, hit, miss, foul. All in all team USA looked shooked in a lot of games.
