The Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Public Utility Law Section teamed up with the Pennsylvania Utility Law Project, the Office of Consumer Advocate, the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Pro Bono Office to offer this webinar for utility lawyers across Pennsylvania who are interested in getting involved in pro bono utility work.
This session provided an overview of a new pro bono initiative - “Free Legal Answers - Utility and Energy Questions” - which is designed to utilize the expertise of utility law practitioners to help consumers get answers to their utility-related questions.
This interactive webinar showed how advocates can participate in this new pro bono initiative, the ethics of pro bono services, and the resources you’ll need to fully engage.
The panelists covered important issues, including how to navigate potential conflicts of interest, whether you’ll be covered for malpractice (spoiler alert: you will!), and how to earn additional free CLE credits by participating in the initiative!
Panelists:
-David Keller Trevaskis, PBA Pro Bono Coordinator
-Patrick Cicero, Consumer Advocate of Pennsylvania
-Dan Clearfield, Member - Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC
-Sarah C. Stoner, Member - Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC, and Chair of the PBA Public Utility Law Section
