I have a suggestion that nobody's has done yet. At least I haven't seen it yet from all boxing lessons I've seen only. So you have all those single lessons - how to land a left hook, how to take an angle, how do fight a fast boxer, etc. etc. That's all good and spot on. But I think a lot of people have trouble to figure out how to intelligently operate during all three minutes of a round. For instance when a guy who packs somewhat a good punch throws a flurry of blows and you instinctively shell up (which you shouldn't), what do you do? How to avoid to falling into a pattern of moving backwards too much and not do enough offensively? And vice versa, how to not get intoxicated with too much aggression and therefore run out of gas? You can learn all those single lessons, but it won't help with staying cool calm collected for the entire three minutes and still maintain offensive efficiency.

New to boxing and have no gyms around me. I've been working on my lead hook alot and trying to figure out how to throw it and you drop this video right on time ! My problem is i am pivoting my lead foot too much and i kind of bring my weight up too much to where my leg almost straightens. Im trying to slow down and put less power, guess ill get it over time.

I'm a boxing coach in New Jersey. When you're a beginner, always throw your hook off your cross. The cross should naturally send weight to your front foot, and then the hook will send weight to your back foot. That shifting of weight on your punches is where some power comes from. Don't worry too much about pivoting your feet on your punches. Worry more about weight shifting forward on your cross and weight shifting back on your hook. Bonus tip: Weight really doesn't shift on your jab - it stays neutral.

I found when I was new my feet weren't in the right place, take a little step to the left (right if southpaw) then throw your hook make sure you're taking your body weight with that step or you'll just throw an awkward wide-stanced weak hook and fall off balance. Lead hook is most commonly a short range shot. (Probably get attacked) But you don't have to pivot, IT IS preference, as long as your hips are definitely directing your power correctly you're all good. Pivoting can help people visualise the flow of the punch better, but I feel it also has it's downfalls, different story though. Keep it up!

​@@anthonystitt3052I know generally its taught that the weight should go to the back foot but I never liked this cue, it only made me lean back and go way out of range,what helped me was thinking during the lead hook the weight has to go sideways ,this way you will never lean too much since if you do you would be way off balance and fall on your face
