Ippo's power isn't completely a gift from God. He's been working at his family fishing boat and carrying loads of heavy loads and working on the boat strengthened his balance and lower half. The story of Ippo is really about hard work and seeing the fruits of your labor.

When coach Kamogawa talks about being a technical outboxer, he's less referring to Ippo having less technique and more wanting Ippo to be the type who charges in and pressures his opponents. The type who is always pushing forward and never retreating, as opposed to someone who's more analytical and tries to fish for openings while dancing around the opponent.

I love this anime/manga. The author is still writing it since the end of 80s and it has A LOT of chapters. I know, it would be impossible to react to all of it, but i would recommend to check it out later for yourself. I think it could be interesting for boxers, because they could find something familiar to them in the characters' stories. I also know that a lot of guys started boxing because of this show. That also happened to me in the middle school, but i didn't last long because watching boxing and doing it are different things of course 😅

15:35 Just letting you know -- headgear doesn't protect your brain, it only protects from superficial cuts and bruises :/ . That's a common misconception. In fact a lot of people get more brain damage due to wearing headgear since they think they're protected and start going harder than they should. There exists no equipment to protect your brain from concussion in boxing, and it's something that needs to be fixed. Same goes for coaches -- they should be informed that headgear does little to nothing for brain damage so that they can accurately advise their fighters. Boxing is a "tough guy" sport, remember to protect yourself even if others pretend like getting brain damage is okay.
