I love when Dagan demos gear for us! I feel like he showcases the best version of what something is gonna sound like in person.

Has been my favourite dirt pedal for 20 years! The way the low end collapses at high gain settings is so special and makes it perfect for fuzzy lead, but can easily cope with low gain stuff too! Would definitely consider putting a second one on my board!
@daddyosink44133 жыл бұрын
They really are special, some of the clones come really close but they just dont feel the same. I bought a Big Box Rat in the 90s and never looked back. That board got stolen so it was replaced with a Turbo Rat, that pedal later got an LM308 chip. I have since picked a few others, everyone needs at least 2😂

I knew a lot of guys who used a Rat Pedal in the 80's. It had a rep for making cheap shitty amps sound great.
@monmixer3 жыл бұрын
I have the first series. Big box, it's a damn good brown sound replicator. I always used a tube amp though so I have to give cred to that amp. Just doing it in a small package.the filter is a low pass filter or a high pass filter wired back wards by the way the knob configuration is. So clockwise = less highs, Counter clock wise means more.

I have a regular Rat but have always found it a bit fuzzy for the rock ‘metal sound I seek. Might have another go with it after watching this 👍
@lawrencedevere22423 жыл бұрын
I did too when I first got it just ended up changing the presence on my amp to a more trebly sound and it sounds so much better has bite in the lead and the rythmn is no where near as fuzzy
@LeviBulger3 жыл бұрын
The trick has always been TS9 into Rat. It's the tried and true method to getting a spot on JCM tone. Once the Rat gets to a certain spot on the gain, it begins to impart the fuzz. So use the TS9 to give it the extra juice and the must have mids

I bought it tonight and so far I like it as a boost or almost a noise gate lol , I'm running it through a joyo zombie and on the clean channel rat on it sounds very high pitch and the sound breaks as you add to much distortion, so I put it on my dirty channel and turned down the rats distortion almost all the way and the volume all rhe way up with my amp at like 3oclock gain and sounds cool it boosts it a bit but more than anything I notice when it's on a lot of background noise is canceled

Nuno is Portuguese by way of the Azorean Islands in the mid North Atlanic, the Island of Terceira to be exact and his family emigrated to the U.S. when he was still a child to the Boston area. I know all this because my family is originally from the next island over of Sao Miguel and as a son of Azorean Portuguese immigrants to Canada and a rock fan, it was a big deal to me that someone from my cultural background was as big a rock star as all the legendary American and British ones.

Thinking about getting one. Looking for a Sabbath style sound pedal. Demoed one at a local store, I’m sold. Only thing is I didn’t get it to get “fuzzy,” I live in America and we only have 110v, aka-girly power compared to UK 220-230 manly power, lol
