Kai's love for dance started with ballet. From a young age, he began training to become a ballet dancer. So he learned form and technique first before any other style of dance. That is why I think you can see such precision in his dancing. As a child, he fell in love with dancing after seeing the Nutcracker and he told his parents that he wanted to do that. So, his whole foundation with dance began with ballet. He says, that if he hadn't been bribed by his father to audition for SM Entertainment, and if he hadn't become a Kpop star, he probably would be a professional ballarino today. But what you are seeing is the whole reason why Kai is considered one of the top two dancers in the industry, because there is pretty much no style of dance that he can't do, and he does it better than almost everyone. (Taemin -- who is Kai's best friend since trainee days -- is the other top dancer.) And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion, but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Kai and Taemin by their peers and the industry as a whole. There is literally no one considered better than them. Kai became a trainee with SM Entertainment when he was about 12 -- he debuted with EXO when he was around 18 -- so he has been honing his skills and dedicating himself to become one of the best in the industry for years. And now, at 27, he has literally been recognized as one of the best of the best. And not only is he an amazing dancer, but in live performances he is singing live while dancing this intensely. As a member of EXO and an SM Entertainment artist, he has trained his whole career to able to sing live while performing high energy choreography and he can do it for hours and still sound flawless the entire time. Kai is a fashion icon and he is highly sought after by some of he biggest names and brands in fashion to be their model and brand ambassador, etc. He is also considered one of the sexiest Kpop idols, and he is known for his super sexy onstage personality. However, when not on stage he is the complete opposite of what you see here. He is actually kind of shy and innocent and he blushes when you compliment him for his looks or his performance. On a side note: The more you see from SM's top artists and groups, you might even start to recognize some of the backup dancers. Because there are only a select few people that can keep up with people like Kai and Taemin, and match their dance style and precision. So, when SM finds dancers that are exceptional, they hold on to them for as long as they can and they use them in almost everything. Also, several of the dancers are also choreographers -- and many times the choreographers who choreograph the dances are also one of the dancers -- so their skill level is far beyond the average dancer. The dancers you see in Kai's and Taemin's MVs are usually most of the same dancers they use for concerts and live performances. They are SM dancers, which means they are used as backup dancers in a lot of SM's other groups' projects as well. Most of Kai's dancers are also Taemin's dancers and some have also been BoA's, Super Junior's and TVXQ's dancers, for example.

your first part is off - he actually started with jazz when he was 7 and then he went to see the nutcracker with his family and decided he wanted to do ballet too. he also auditioned his dancers via an open call and many hadn't danced for other sm artists yet at that point. i think it's also worth mentioning that he choreographs too.

@@milindawilson9175 I wasn’t trying to accuse you of anything I was just correcting misinformation. I’m not sure what interviews you’ve seen but he always mentions jazz before ballet. Even in his last interview for Elle China the write up mentions that he did jazz and then ballet after seeing the nutcracker. It’s even on his wiki. I just did a quick google because I was too lazy to actually go through whole interviews and find other examples and his gq 2016 interview is one example that came up as the top link. I think because ballet is such a well-known dance style it gets seen as his background because it’s easier for people who don’t dance to understand. But the first class he went to that he talks about in his gucci performers video and in numerous interviews was jazz and then he got into ballet via the nutcracker. Then the dance style he talks about seeing on tv is hip hop ie he saw shinhwa performing and wanted to learn how to dance like that too. It doesn’t really matter I just wanted to let you know for next time.

@@isitnewyears Thanks. Yes I know he studied jazz but i wasn't aware it was first. I was thinking it was more in tandem/at the same time as ballet. But, either way, just because I failed to mention jazz, doesn't make what I said wrong. Ballet is one of the first styles he studied and it's where his foundation in dance steams from. 😀 But thanks for adding more details.

Usually solo artists in SM get a higher prozentige of the profits, but Kai being Kai didn't want to go with the minimalism bs SM is pulling on EXO. So he forwent a significant amount of the shares of the revenue for his solo, to have a higher budget for his solo. He was also very involved in every detail for his solo.

Oh snAP my ultimate bias of all biases..... she wasn't ready... the king of Duality. And the funny part is, that Kai got a LOT of hate from people saying that he couldn't sing and that he was the weakest voice in EXO. He's also gotten a lot of hate for being "dark". When his solo album came out and he saw all of the support for him he broke down and cried. He is my favorite favorite favorite of all time.

Kai’s whole album was a masterpice i also LOVE his voice I think he’s very underrated vocalist in exo but his tone and texture is so particular I love it. From a dancer perspective, Kai has phenomenal dance technical skills and creativity at the same time he seems very down-to-earth, sweet and funny during interviews/reality shows. When I watch his flexibility and range of motion, movement coordination , body alignment and posture, and rhythm during dance practices, music mv and exo music mv , I can see Kai has had jazz and ballet training. His dance skills and vocal skills are inspirational.
