First of all..Thank you for all you videos. Helping me a lot. Could you please make one or two video showing how cars follow perspective? Which lines should be drawn under the perspective which should not? It is easy to draw objects using orthogonal lines in perspective but cars :( Let us know what needs to be done, if possible. I wanted to start out with basic car design drawing techniques because if your line quality is terrible, what good is knowing how to draw in perspective? The next series will be on speed forms as a lot of people have been asking about those. But perspective and color are in the works as well. I have a problem that I have many ideas for car but I can't express them on my car sketch!!! when ever I start sketching that on paper I feel that its not taking that shape which I imagine because I am not able to think and draw perfect shape of the front. I can't understand the perfect 3d shape of front :'(

Drawing cars is really hard. You have to practice a lot. Don't be afraid of the hard work it takes to get good and improve. If it was easy, everyone would do it!

Thanks for the kind words. I actually worked with the designer who did the original DSMs when I was at Chrysler. I thought the same thing after the sketch was finished and thought of Andy. There is a part one to that video as well. You might want to check that one out too. Thanks.

@@richardike2342 There was a joint venture between Mitsu and Chrysler to build the Eclipse and Talon. The joint venture was called Diamond Star Motors, DSM. The term DSM was used in house and then picked up by the tuner crowd to describe any of the cars made by the joint venture company.

@@howtodrawcars. l remember that Chrysler/Mitsubishi joint venture era. It also produced the Mitsubishi 3000GT, and its Chrysler twin; the Dogde Stealth (which l prefered).

@@richardike2342 Yes, the Dodge was a better looking car. It was designed by Dan Sims, if I remember correctly. The studio where that car was done was directly across the hall from mine.

I would like to learn about sketching in different views and perspectives. And also about how to develop visual elements in the exterior design of a car. Would be a great help if you do a few videos on this. Because I can draw cars effectively only in a few views and it's difficult to visualise them in other more unconventional views. And I also have trouble developing my own concepts and how to make them look visually integrated and pretty

Drawing cars in perspective is one of the hardest things a creative person can attempt to do. The plan is to do some perspective videos to show how to set any car up in different views. If you feel that you need to get going on this as soon as possible, I would think about signing up for a tutoring session. Just find a pencil with a very soft lead. You want a pencil that will allow you to make very light lines and very dark lines without having to switch to a different pencil.

Line weight is the thickness or thinness of the lines you draw. A thinner line would have a lighter visual weight and the thicker line would look visually heavier.

You're not wrong. It was either foreshorten it or it would have gone out of the camera frame. Drawing cars is hard. Drawing cars so they stay in the camera frame is really hard! :-)
