This is why I got annoyed when someone on r/discgolf said Uli is dumb. Yeah he's a goof ball, but if you think he is dumb you aren't actually listening to him talk about disc golf. Uli is one of the most analytical golfers in the pro field he's broken down and rebuilt his own game multiple times and continues to do so. If anyone wants to become a better disc golfer this is who you should listen to because the tools he uses to get top 10 finishes are the same ones you can use to improve your game. Thanks Uli for being such a great ambassador for the sport and showing people that disc golf is about thinking about your game just as much as it is about execution.

Going about your normal life and speaking eloquently is one thing. Public speaking, or being on camera is another level, and for as much as he speaks on camera I think he does a good job.

For real he goofs off and stuff in the micd up practice rounds but anyone with a brain can tell he knows what hes talking about if you actually listen to him. One of my favorite people in the disc golf world.

I agree. Very good insight on intelligent decision making and how to apply with your own skill level. Disc golf gets players thinking "must park with that perfect throw" off every teepad, and becomes frustrating when you cant. Making educated decisions and high probability throws makes the game much more enjoyable.

I realize this video is 2 years old but it just popped up on my Home view probably because I've been watching so much vlogmas this year. I just came back to the game 2 years ago after a 20 year hiatus (job, family, blah, blah blah). Re-discovery of the game has been an absolute joy and your PDGA videos are some of the best breakdowns I've seen. The ability to do something well doesn't always translate into an ability to teach. You do both superbly. A quote a coach/trainer of mine once shared..."Luck is when preparation meets opportunity." Training, preparation, intelligent choices increase the probability of things unfolding in your favor (often referred to as "Luck" by those less prepared). Keep rockin it Uli!

Uli, you’re the best - this video speaks volumes to your professionalism, dedication, and passion about the sport. How lighthearted you can come across in the ‘mic’d up practice rounds’ doesn’t give way to show how thoughtful you are about your own game. Glad to see someone take themselves seriously but in a healthy way- thanks for the fuel to keep wanting to improve 💯✊

In March of 2021, I got back into Disc Golf, after a 4-5 break ...I let life & work distract me. As part of trying to improve my form, I attended a clinic and started watching "how to" videos on YT. Then I started watching whole Tournaments, so I became familiar seeing Paul provide commentary ...but I had no idea he had instructional videos, until one came across my feed. I really like how he breaks things down and the way he can clearly explain concepts/techniques! Needless to say, I subscribed and will begin binge watching his videos.

I imagine at this point it's something you can just naturally incorporate into your game but as a novice it's eye opening, I was already thinking "midrange up the middle" and then you pointed out how throwing the Machete on anny would open up the gap. Paul, I love your coaching because you are really good at accurately describing what you're doing. For example, in your earlier videos on backhand throwing mechanics. This is no small thing-- there are tons of pros who in my opinion do NOT describe what they are actually doing. I watch the videos in slow mo of their throw mechanics vs. how they describe it and there is a total disconnect. Just because someone can do something well doesn't mean they are good at accurately explaining how they are doing it. The other thing I like is that you aren't Eagle or someone capable of routinely throwing 500' backhands and sidearms. So your advice on a video like this is much more useful for a more normal player or a total noodle arm like me.
