No VR yet. The base vehicles that come with this game are unlicensed vehicles. Those cars are going to be the best in terms of handling and how well they are built. This game is mod supported and there are a few good ones. I wouldn’t recommend some of the real cars cause they’re stolen models and weren’t built for this game. They crash weirdly and look kinda weird. You can use keyboard, controller, and wheel. You are gonna have to work with the wheel setting and there are people in the community who can help you out. All the cars are customizable and tune-able. If you go to the repository in the main menu which is where the mods are and search AX53. There’s two drift car mods that I think are really good for you to try out. Good luck
@clumsygarage15783 жыл бұрын
You should totally try it. It doesn’t have VR support, but it got a huge physics overhaul after all of these clips were recorded. Weight transfer is some of the best in the business now. Probably start with some of the vanilla cars because a lot of the car mods are either kind of low quality or still using the old tire model. Also, it lets you properly tune your cars bit by bit so you could try making your own configuration.

To address a few of your questions. This game is still in early access and regularly gets game changing updates. Some of the weird physics at the beginning where due to the player being on controller or keyboard. Also that player was using some dodgy Russian mods. GENERALY the default cars work the best, some of the very best mods which can be downloaded from within game get close tho. All the cars with good damage maps and good physics will be fictional (although it’s pretty easy to tell what they’re based of). The cars are very tuneable as in you could put rally coilovers in a drift build and the car would react accordingly. I for example took a Audi Quattro/ old merc and turned it into a awd hoon car. The physics on the default cars are sublime. All of the parts have different strengths and flex different amounts so rather than the physics engine making up the reaction between parts, it actually happens. It’s very easy to damage a car with relatively safe driving as well due to small rocks being able to take out your radiator or suspension parts and bigger rocks being able to take out fuel tanks and driveshafts. The game started off as a soft body damage engine but over the 7 years of development it has evolved into a great sim. An update came out came out recently and the changes it made to tarmac driving feel have turned the sim into an net of my top 3. I’ve probably missed loads more info but this comment is already long enough. Hope you enjoy playing it.
@JB22.3 жыл бұрын
I completely forgot to mention that the movement of the front wheels when the wheel was not moving would mostly down to the fact that every part of the car can flex. This includes the chassis, suspension components, tires etc etc

Most of the clips look like the people driving are using a gamepads. When u play the game whit a wheel and configure the force feedback it is not far away from games like assetto corsa. (i started drifting in beam and when i tried out ac my driving translated pretty easily, took like maybe 1 hour to get my full confidence.) And also if u eventually want to try drifting in beam u should download some drift mods (they add drift parts like angle kits to the beam cars), maybe some maps to drift and go mess whit the force feedback setting so it fells right. And last the game doesnt have real cars (can be changed by mod), but vanilla cars i recommend to star drifting 200bx, i-series, pessima, sunburst and grand marshal. P.S. hope to see some beam content soon.

Im not sure, but I think beamng kind of recently (a few months ago?) had a patch that had to do with much better ffb and how the tires interact with the road. So it could be that the videos youre watching are a mish mash of old and new. So its kinda hard to tell how good this game is unless you really look for either before or after the patch.

BeamNG recently updated their asphalt physics and depending on when these videos were made, it might be way better. I've never tried drifting in that game and I usually just crash into things though... so... I do think it feels more like Forza than a sim, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, still fun to mess around in. The game is hilariously detailed to an extent that makes just goofing around a lot of fun. Almost like just driving around in GTA or something. Also yeah you can use a controller if you want, both wheel and controller honestly feel pretty enjoyable.
