But tariffs will be passed down to the consumer...look at trucks since Charlie brought it up, the cost of the avg 1\4-1\2 ton truck increased $11,000 under Trump b/c of the tariffs he imposed..... that cost was clearly and easily documented to show the cost was passed down to the consumer, not only that but fewer trucks are made in America today than when he imposed those tariffs. Tariffs can work to bring manufacturing back to America but it rarely does, the only cases where it does work is with small daily consumer products, there's not one instance of it working with large scale consumer items like cars, construction materials or household appliances...literally not one in the last 40 years. There's better ways and legislation to implement to lure businesses back than tariffs which 95% impact the end consumer.....but I hate to break it to people....these businesses are NOT coming back, no matter if you impose a 500% tariff, give a 5% corporate tax rate or any other business friendly incentive you enact b/c of the environment today. In an environment where every employee might sue not just the corporation for a litany of reasons from harassment, bullying, sexual harassment, wrongful termination or any of the ****ist being alleged today, but upper management and executives also face such lawsuits...even if the corporate aspect thought it smart to move back the human executive aspect would fight it tooth and nail. With such a litigious environment mixed in with a everything is racist, sexist, anti LGBT, these corporations and leadership wouldn't dare come back to America...keep in mind once they do come back they have to hire American workers ...AND THAT'S the problem and the reason they wont move back, so you can pass all the tariffs, all the tax incentives you want, until the culture changes they AREN'T coming back. President Trump even touched on this on his, of all places, Theo Von podcast. First time I've heard him or anyone mention it, the biggest problem in this country, he actually ranked it #1 among everything was the private personal injury lawyers and how easy it is to sue anyone in America. It's not like this anywhere else in the world, and things wont change until that is addressed. There are literally people who sue their employer for being fired b/c they were late over and over(you can get progressive leftist doctors to diagnose anything nowadays, and time blindness is actually reconsigned by some districts in CA)... now I suspect those lawsuits don't make it far but every time it costs the business at least $10K just to fight it initially. Do you know how many "issues" trans people have on a daily basis, with surgery or taking body altering hormones....try firing someone going thru that, you are asking for a costly lawsuit and bad PR. And many states are passing laws not only "protecting" people with all those issues but actually requiring and demanding businesses hire them(Elon and SpaceX just got sued for not hiring enough non-citizens for Gods sake). DEI is clearly a problem but it's only a problem b/c it's so easy to sue anyone in America, that's the real problem, DEI is just a system of the problem.

@annojance2 ай бұрын
That second sentence is true. That first sentence is not. The very existence of nation states and their borders are extremely anti-libertarian. To a lesser degree, the same is true of the concept of land as property. Within reason, it's acceptable for land to be property. But it must be constrained by the Lockean proviso such that others will have "enough and as good" as others. Accepting anything more than that is an endorsement of a monopolistic, one-sided control by some property holder who will likely utilize force to defend the "borders" of what they believe to be their territory, very much akin to a nation-state.

You're 100% right, but what is essential to legalization of all drugs is that they must also be taxed and regulated. If you only legalize or decriminalize all drugs without having infrastructure in place to ensure they are regulated by the FDA to the same standard of alcohol and cigarettes, the problem of mass overdose by lacing will remain. If you go full boar with deregulation when it comes to drug control the impetus of harm reduction behind drug legalization is undercut severely. Legalize, tax, and regulate stimulates the economy, substantially mitigates the border crisis, decreases gang violence, and reallocates police resources to more serious and harmful crimes. The perpetuation of the drug war is easily one of if not the most deleterious domestic policy currently being upheld in the United States and is the modern day equivalent to the failed prohibition of alcohol in the 1920s-30s

No, he's a Libertarian. He's correct it's just that he isn't quick witted enough to respond on the spot. Tariffs make goods more expensive which is why they're shipped over seas to begin with. If they were cheaper to make here the company wouldn't have shipped them overseas because they'll profit more. Charlie is wrong about the drug issue. The black market thrives with drugs being illegal which leads to more crime. We have seen prohibition clearly fail which Kirk denies. In CA drugs are not legalized. You can't just open a store and get drugs. CA is nothing Libertarian like. Legalizing drugs eliminates the black market. People won't just all start shooting heroin. If it became legal tomorrow would you start doing it? Of course not. Our tax dollars rise to incarcerate victimless crimes. People won't just all start shooting up because it's legalized that's ridiculous. Furthermore, we have seen the same drug laws with fluctuating rates of drug usage. Drug laws don't stop people from doing drugs same way alcohol age limit didn't stop any high schooler from drinking. Kirk is wrong. The kid is right. He either didn't have the correct knowledge of isn't good on his feet.
