I just got a pair of low tops from Amazon. They are just as i remembered them. Got them in the classic black. I am considering getting two more in the red and white.

I wore these in the 70s and these were by far the best shoe you could get for playing ball in the playgrounds as at that time they were owned by US Rubber thus the soles lasted forever when compared to Converse, The Royal suedes were the go to at the time I remember paying $23 for a pair of a Royal suedes in blue

I’ve been looking for a review of Pro Keds. I’d like to see a side by side comparison to Converse All Stars too. I think you sound like me in favoring the quality of the Pro Keds over the Chuck Taylors. I realize they weee never an equal sales-wise compared to the All Stars. And that may reflect in interest today as well. But I am.

Funny, my keds pro came perfectly laced as well. I've had them for two weeks now & I can say the build quality is superior to Chuck Taylors. I've owned chucks in the 80s and since Nike took them over they are not the same shoe. Keds also takes more pride in their packaging.

Are they as narrow as converse, or would you recommend them to someone with wider feet?

Personally I think they're wider. Not by much, not a so much of a difference that you would notice by looking at them. But they're definitely roomier, in a good way.

Pro keds aren’t narrow like converse they are wide. Pro keds and keds are no longer the same company. Stride rite bought pro keds from keds in the 70s. At one time these were the biggest most popular sneaker with endorsements by Kareem Abdul Jabar and billy Jean king. They lost popularity in the 80s but remained popular in japAn. In the 90s and early 2000s they had relaunches but it was in 2016 where they have their most steady relaunch available on line.
