My 2015 F80 M3 was so Good that I went and bought the 2016 M3 for my partner. This car is simply fantastic. The suspension was perfectly tuned from the factory, and using it on the track was a pure pleasure in the way it absorbed the apex bumps without unsettling the car. I track at Mission Raceway, The Ridge, Pacific, and Area 27. With a knowledge of how to apply power properly (it is NOT an "on-off" switch), this car responds exactly how you want it too, so that there is plenty of power when you need it, and if you don't, just simply don't apply as much.This makes balancing understeer with a touch, allowing you to transition to oversteer if you like. A perfect track car, and you can drive it home without a trailer, as well as use it on the school run, as it has 4 doors! Both of my M3s are a pleasure to drive on a daily basis. Pure luxury and pure performance.... to say nothing of its good looks! This is a driver's car. Nothing less.

why not buy the M2 Comp for 30k less?
@ALMX5DP4 жыл бұрын
Preference. M4 CS does have a power advantage and though a larger vehicle dimensionally, is barely heavier than the M2. I suspect driving dynamics would be fairly different, so a prospective buyer would likely have to drive both to see which they like better.
@ccar13324 жыл бұрын
The M4 and M3 a noticeable power increase over the M2C, and especially the M2. On top of that the weight is about the same, but if you option the Manual transmission and the CarbonCeramic Brakes, the M3/4 is actually lighter than the M2... let alone the M2C which is a further 50 kg heavier than the M2. Plus the usability of 4 doors on the M3 make it far more practical than the M4 and especially the M2, and it weighs the same as a M4. Carbon roof, carbon drive shaft, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon trunk lid, aluminium front fenders, to name just a few lighter parts makes the M3/4 as light and in some cases LIGHTER, more nimble than the M2 or M2C, which can be twitchy with it's 2 inch shorter wheelbase. Luxury improvements can also be a factor for some.

M4 has the nicer cabin. The residuals on M4 are very good, cheaper to lease the M4 with a larger msrp. Buy the M2 , lease the M4. I’m wrapping up 3 years in a M4 Comp and it’s been a great car. Car is fast and reliable, zero CELs in 30k miles. Made a great DD with no problems.

the M2 Comp is heavier than this car. Also, the shorter wheelbase is not an advantage on some tracks. Almost all of them.

I'm sorry to be the person that asks, but why shouldn't a person get a 911, a C8 Corvette, GT-R, etcetera instead of this at this price?

It's a cool car but you hit the nail on the head. It's advertised as this track special and has all of these cool lightweight materials but it's still heavy at nearly 3600lbs. Neat car but a lot of money

@@WindyCity1992 I wouldn't say they're mediocre in all aspects, the build quality of the M3/M4 is in another league compared to anything from Ford/Dodge/Chevrolet. So far the M4/M3 have been very reliable so not everything is let down.

While I am sure BMW has improved things some from 2016, my 16' M3 was HORRIBLE!!!! I will give it some credit, the drivetrain (with the DCT) was amazing and it is very quick, but everything else performance wise fell apart when you got over 7/10ths with it. The rebound damping was hideous (so much so that I added Ohlin R/T coilovers on it to make It behave the way it should have from the factory), the traction/stability control system was WAY over zealous and fought you every step of the way (even in MDM Mode). With the exception of brand new extreme performance tires, it struggled for traction, and not sure if common, but on mine with the standard steel brakes, the rotor/pad material did not mesh well and you would get pad deposits and vibrations after about 500 miles. Had the rotors/pads replaced 4 times under warranty. The worst 3 year lease ownership I have ever experienced!!!!! Fast forward and I now have had my 2SS 1LE for 2 years and it it everything I was expecting the M3 to be, but wasn't. They have switched roles... The F80/82 is more motor than the chassis can handle and the shock damping sucks. The SS 1LE is a track monster and is very well balanced, controlled, and has a traction/stability control system that its cohesive and works with you. The brakes are top notch too. It is a complete , balanced package that is a true sports car, for half the cost. While some point out the interior, blah, blah, blah. I had the standard M3 interior, not the extended leather option and in 2SS trim , the SS 1LE is every bit as nice, with the exceptions of a few carbon pieces. The cabin in the SS 1LE after 2 years is quieter than my M3 was after only 6 mths. The M3 rattled and squeaked awfully from all 4 door seals.

Dude you’re me. I did European delivery of a 2016 M3 with a manual transmission. The car drove like shit, sounded worse, and I’ve sworn off BMW to this day because of it. I too now have a Camaro SS1LE and have said to my wife several times that I expected the M3 to drive like the Camaro. People have looked at me sideways when I told him about my experience, at least I know we have something in common.
@RB-xv4si4 жыл бұрын
1st mistake was not going with the carbon ceramic brake package. With the steel brakes, you’re only getting 4 piston calipers in front and 2 piston rear. With CC, you get 6 piston front, 4 piston rear, plus it drops 40ish lbs of unsprung mass. Pads last way longer too. 2nd mistake was not getting the competition pack. That has revised suspension, more power, etc. So yeah, if you don’t take the time to spec it out right, you will have problemos, señor.
@TRZ06124 жыл бұрын
Russell Brown CP was not available in 2016. Second, I have driven a CP, and while they have made the suspension a little better , it is far from where it should be and still leaves a lot to be desired when you are 9/10th to 10/10ths and you hit a bump mid corner with the suspension loaded up. You SHOULD NOT have to upgrade to the CCB to get confident, vibration free braking. That to me is a poor excuse for a Motorsport product. Drive a Porsche, their steel brakes are just as confident as their CCB. Also, I had the F90 M3 prior and had no such issues.
