The performance was at a coffee shop. I don’t know how you want her to perform at such a small setting. I never saw a video of Dimash singing at a coffee place for it to be a basis of your comparison, so I personally think that was unfair. As what the other commenters here said, go check her other performances. Preferably the videos they have suggested. But good insights of her vocals from yeeeaaars ago. It's not that you will be roasted for your comments, but this "jam session" at a coffee house may not be the right basis for gauging her out of this world showmanship. Maybe try reviewing some of her videos in concert, and not the ones on a bus, livestream with fans, or small venues. Great review BTW!

Chrissa, I truly enjoyed your reaction. It definitely is a hot take that Morissette is simply a technician and not an emotional performer. I'm not sure I've heard any other reactors make that criticism, but from what I understand, these "Stages Sessions" take place in a rather intimate and casual setting amongst some of her most avid supporters. "Performance" in the Philippine scene puts technical merits on top. I grew up horrified at children entering talent shows singing "Hey Big Spender", belting out a song that no one realized or cared was age-inappropriate. Yes, we understand lyrics at a literal level, but it's still not our first language. When we sing in our own language, then it's suddenly a different ball game. I wonder what you'd think about KZ Tandingan's performances at the Chinese talent show, Singer. I prefer the Aerosmith version, played by Morissette Amon (DREAM ON) (live with Arnel Pineda's JOURNEY (USA band) frontman (look at his shocked face in the performance)).🤔 in reality they are two schools of singing, two genres, two mechanical muscle / bone positioning, two absolutely different approaches. uses only principles and techniques that are studied in an opera or in a chamber conservatory. which in most modern songs has nothing to do with it. if you want to hear, the real voice of Dimash, you have to hear when he sings in the third octave and begins the fourth. the rest are mostly techniques and sounds that are not used in modern singing. they might please me, for example, I'm not a child. I studied opera and chamber singing. I don't like them very much, too many mixes of genres (modern music + opera). morissette amon, remains as faithful as possible to the author (author of the song as he wanted it), even if he gives her phenomenal interpretation. You're way off base saying she's not a performer....react to her cover of " Run to you " or "And I am telling you" or her Asia's song festival performances 2017 and 2018....Then her home version of " Gusto ko nang bumitaw" playing the piano ...one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard....6 years I've been watching Mori and this performance you reacted to is in front of a small crowd and very quaint....check out my suggestions and you will see and feel the emotion ...and the performance she can bring....she literally has hundreds of videos on KZbin....my playlist is at about 390.....so give her a listen of true performances....

She can definitely perform with emotional investment. Most of her other performances can better showcase that. This is a pretty casual one. She's not just a technician.

If you like emotions, watch her Could You be Messiah and the recently released Live Band performance of Gusto ko nang Bumitaw (I wanna Let Go)-it would be better if you look for the one with English Subtitles so you can appreciate more the performance. It’s unfair if you rate her ability to show “emotions” if the performance you chose was done in the end of a concert (29th or 30th song of the night as an encore) as she was having a blast with her fans & she was very happy as this was done in her home city, Cebu.
