Yah nothing will top Brentildas blind seeing as calculated sort of ruins the novelty of blinds like that. I feel like this seems so much more of a synthetic run compared to figuring out divine which is an in game mechanic

@AutoSemiMatic Not exactly, divine isn't a calculator of any kind. Literally all it does is narrow down the angle at which a stronghold might occur on your seed. The coordinates are no more than the midpoint of that "slice" of the stronghold ring. Blinding at [insert divine coordinate here] is no less random than blinding at 150,150, you just have much less room in which to be wrong.

@@Noah-lj2sg Divine itself doesn't use a calculator in the run and has never been part of the calculator debate. It's a list of 16 sets of coordinates, that's all. You don't calculate anything in game (which is what the debate is all about), you just look at a spreadsheet. It's not really a calculation in the sense that people mean either, in that it has nothing to do with triangulation -- the values don't come from the intended way to find the stronghold, which is ender eye throws.

@@derpthefish929 but this world record stood for so long, and we knowppeople might have beat it by just 10 ish seconds. I say this record lasts for a lot longer, but then again, this run did strategize with the calculator method so only time will tell us and give us the answer.

The fact that this run could've easily been sub 8 if wither skeletons didn't pestered him, the dragon perched instantly or he got better nether terrain, only shows that there is a huge room for improvement on this category. The skill requirement for this category is just insane. Good luck runners!

There can still be realistically a sub-1:30 enter with a 3 minute nether split, sub-4:30 blind into the stronghold or 100 block ocean exposed and insta perch. Sub 6 definitely possible but i agree that a sub 7 wouldn’t be beaten without a genuine miracle

My mind is blown at how good Cube is across so many different categories of speedrunning. Like others have said, the seed and rng in this run were clearly very good but not anything godlike -- Cube just played this seed to perfection. He holds so many records now that he's basically the Max Park of MCSR. I think this is a record we can all be proud of.

remember in early 2021, there's WR after WR in weeks. We thought Brentilda's run will stay quite a while, but not long. It took people 279 days to complete the challenge. Not to mention that multi-instance and Wall got invented, calc be allowed and new strats like mapless. Brentilda's run basically the most iconic run in MCSR history by far.

i've had 2 sub 6:30 blinds since finishing 1k speedruns, i haven't used a calc in either and dont even have the program installed so im not tempted. Personally i really love triangulating as a skill and think it was the hardest thing to do in speedrunning before calculators were unbanned, so i personally like utilizing the skill in runs rather than calculators

I think it was really important to have a calculator wr honestly. I think we’re going to have a new WR very very soon and there’s eventually going to be a WR without calculator. Obviously they’re an advantage but it’s important to show that this can be beaten, and will be, without calculators. I think it’ll be interesting to see how it’ll shake out but honestly we needed this I think for a few reasons, whether anyone likes it or not

Finally a new record! Brentilda's WR was impressive and well deserved, but I was very unhappy that a record which abused the hack out of pausing stood for so long. Yes, it was within the rules, but it was abuse nonetheless, that is why the rules had to be adjusted.

Some could say that use a calculated travel it's kind of an abuse, that's why rules have to be renewed every once in a while. I didn't think Brentilda was over using a cheat because game pausing it's part of the game, but I can understand why people said it was

It's insane but I can't really get excited about the use of calculators, absolutely no disrespect to the runner. This new WR coming in so soon after allowing the use of calculators just shows how they completely undermine all those that came before, it takes a huge amount out of the player and the grind. It should be its own category like FSG.
