Fyi the how it feels series is more on an informative overview showing what to expect, what to do and don't and obvi how it would feel when playing the character mainly in the competitive ranked mode of Tf2.

There's two things going down with that seemingly nigh-immortal spy. Spies have partial damage resistance when invisible, and the particular minigun Lazy is using in that clip is Natascha - which very briefly slows enemies on hit but also does about 25% less damage than the stock minigun. Put those two things together, and a cloaked Spy will take some effort to kill.
@StoryTeller796Ай бұрын
Also, that damage resistance was added (I believe) in the update before Jungle Inferno or Directly during Jungle Inferno's balance patches.
@candlestone5397Ай бұрын
Miniguns already do low damage, so damage resistance is always a big thing with them. its why vaccinator is good against heavies.

5:10 The Invis-Watch grants the Spy a slight damage resistance while it's active, 15% if my memory serves right. In addition, status effects like Bleed and Fire will last half as long as their normal duration (not that it matters).

You'd be surprised at how often that half of anything would be clutch. Jontohil2 would probably know.

Combine with the fact the gun Lazy was using had 25% damage penalty. Add the damage drop off and that Spy basically had like 50 percent damage resistance.

I'd also recommend Krunkidile's 'Team Service Announcement' series. He gives advice on how to play TF2 despite there being essentially no meaningful dialogue, just quality animation showcasing various Dos and Don'ts framed in a comedic and easily digestible manner, and the description of each video highlights the lessons he is trying to teach with each one in case the animation is not clear enough for some viewers. Spy takes reduced damage while invisible, he also gets his debuff effects (including Pyro afterburn) reduced while actively using invisibility. That's why he is a bit tankier than what he should be normally.

the real issue with Heavy is that his skill ceiling is very low. Ho has no special trick he can use out of startign to spin his gun mid-jump, and unlike other power classes, the heavy is both the slowest class ESPECIALLY when shooting while at the same time needing to maintain a direct line of sight to deal damage. thats why experienced players that want to main a power class inevitably go away from the heavy and end up maining soldier or demoman instead. the heavy has one great purpose though, and it is being the one power class that doesnt fear pyros as he has more durability, more firepower, and unlike other power classes his main weapon isnt neutered or turned aginst him by airblasts
@calsalitra4689Ай бұрын
I don't think a low skill ceiling on its own is a problem. I think the real problem, and you make note of this yourself, is lacking versatility. Heavy has the unfortunate trait of being overly specialized into roles that are highly competitive. The other 2 power classes have similar power despite both having multiple other roles they can excel in and a large selection of meaningful unlocks. The other 2 area denial classes are as good as Heavy at his role if not better alongside crucial support capabilities, long range potential, and cheese (Engineer) or are dominant in a specific area denial niche that no one else can compete in (Sniper). He's better at jumping into the enemy team than the other 2, sure, but he's still not good at it. On top of only having 2 real niches that he has difficulty competing in, his weapon selection is... lacking to say the least. All of his primary weapons are slight tweaks of stock that all fill the same roles of "powerful" and "area denial". His shotgun selection is poor and none of them are particularly great while his lunchbox items... make him better at area denial. His melees are the best he's got, but a class as slow as Heavy can't benefit much from the more interesting positives of KGB, Warriors Spirit, or Holiday Punch (it doesn't help that the latter two aren't that good anyway). The utility options that he can reliably make use of just make him better at moving between areas to deny them. He's not the only class to suffer from this problem, but he lacks the same dominance in their niche that classes like Medic and Sniper have to make up for it.
@thorveim1174Ай бұрын
@@calsalitra4689 Oh i'm nto arguint that the low skill ceiling is a good thing, on the contrary. healy is VERY limited in what it can do and this is a direct consequence of it. And in fact it ends up as kinda sad that this character, the face of TF2, is pretty much the bottom of the barrel because both of how he can be worked around by other classes while hafing almost no mean to create a favorable engagement for himself out of an ambush that arguably is more the job of a pyro than that of the most durable character in the game
