I haven't even got a sling yet but looking at the gamekeeper ppmg+ ttf because the fork gap is 80x40 mm, the ppmg+ ott version is 50x30 mm. And now I'm looking the none + version because the frame looks chunkier.

For me they all work pretty much the same at close ranges,but when it goes beyond 25 m and 30m, the TTF is a bit more difficult to aim, the upper band would block the sight, at that point, I don't have a reference point anymore, I was just guessing how much I should lift. For me OTT works better at further distances, but they are all great fun to shoot.

I like the technical details of how slingshots work, especially in video format. The advice to start with OTT I was never told so I do TTF because I feel like that is better for me. My aim can be inconsistent and I think it’s in my release so that’s good advice.

I shoot mostly eyeline and prefer OTT. On the odd occasion that i do shoot gangster i usually opt for TTF. I've tried the other way around on both and there is a marked drop in my accuracy lining up the band along their skinny edge. My shooting buddy shoots gangster and eyeline, both with OTT frames. Just thought i'd throw that in here.... like you said, "personal tastes"!

With TTF it seems I just have to adjust vertically, with OTT the ball does fly to the left or right. Difficult. I can hit a 8cm target with both on 10m.

Yesterday I decided to try shoot it TTF and was pleasantly surprised that l was more accurate shooting it TTF. I am glad l purchased a Axoim Ocularis. Might as well buy it's limited addition as well.

@@simpleshot I been following a lot of your tips on accuracy. I stopped shooting at all the spinners and took a pizza box and started checking my groups. As of today I was able to consistently hit a mark the size of a thumb nail at 25 feet. (That is the max I can go indoor)

What size ammo is best for accuracy is it the same for strength and penetration. What would you say is the best all around size ammo in general?
@simpleshot3 жыл бұрын
All ammo has the same potential for accuracy as long as it is perfectly spherical and consistent size. But lighter ammo has a straighter trajectory and therefore most shooters find it more accurate so to speak. 3/8 has been the standard for years but some target shooters now favor a lighter ammo. Such as 5/16. 7/16 is an excellent hunting ammo.

This whole thing about taking slingshots to this level is so amusing for me... i have a slingshot but just like he showed.. 1 Y stick and a band... but havent really got myself into this analization. For me it was olny like a hobby, shooting it, but this makes it like a min-max thing where you get lost in the details and numbers of the speed, drawlength, ammo weight, where do you tie the band and sort of this, and after you make this scientifically perfected slingshot you forgot why you made it... to shoot the tin can for 10 mins... Take this hobby to your level, it was just my opinion. Have a good day!
@chriswright81143 жыл бұрын
you definitely have a point. some people definitely get too anal about every little part of your setup. I've had a slingshot my entire life and never even thought about any of this until a couple of years ago. I had no idea anyone within city limits had ever even held one, much less that there was a whole sport dedicated to it now. I did a little bit of research and watched a few videos and had about the same impression as you. so I said screw it, it's too much information and I've grown up on whatever wrist rocket and tubes were available anyway so I have no idea what kind of setup or shooting style I like. spent maybe a hundred bucks on a torque for me and a scout for my buddy, a few different strengths of bands, some spare pouches, and a few different ammo weights. was worth every penny. it's kind of like darts or pool. true, you can just grab whatever is available at the bar, and that's all most people ever do. but there's nothing like getting that combination of weight, grip, just overall feel that's perfect for you. I'll use a bar cue, or daisy wrist rocket, and have a blast all day. but when I grab MY gear, play time is over. now we just need a sporting goods chain to put in just a small room with a catch box, and a few different setups and weights, so everyone can experiment without having to buy just everything....

Don1t get jangy on it I.E. Learn how to Breathe when shooting very important. Set up some cans and just start small maybe 6-7 feet don`t pull back to hard at first get to know the Machine then start getting further away from your target also watch your grip on you Ammo also very important plenty of great vids on youtube about that... I just started shooting slingshot few months ago and your Videos has been massive help. Question, I hear some people say should use non-tapered (straight) bands for TTF. Is there any truth to this?
@simpleshot Жыл бұрын
Bands will break/fail at the weakest point. A taper has the narrower thus weakest section by the pouch. If it breaks at full draw, this has the latex snap to your hand and not at your face. We recommend a taper.

I shoot flats tubes looped tubes thru the fork and over the top. Experimented many styles and configurations. I watched many vids on shooting and rigging up all sorts of frames. What I have not seen yet is a looped flatbands set up. I think it could work just fine if instead of a typical hole in the frame for looped tubes ya just widen the hole so flats would fit. Has anyone tried this. I think it would work easier with strait cut bands. But tapers could work also.
@JestersLab5 жыл бұрын
I've tried that mate. Works well but its louder than a whip cracking when the band gets to full extension and the two sides of the flat loops slap together.... Hope that helps ya. ;)

Nathan, please explain to the folks why you prefer to hold the slingshot at a 45 degree angle, as opposed to horizontal (the way you advocate) or vertical. Also please explain along with that the difference
@usernamemykel6 жыл бұрын
...whoops...please explain how the aiming reference point changes. Folks have noted that some of the very best Chinese slingshooters tend to hold their slingshots at 45 degrees, but I for one have never heard of anyone asking "why?". Thanks, THWACK!
@simpleshot6 жыл бұрын
This video is from Nathan's heart. You truly have to find what works for you. There's not always an answer to "why?" Sometimes it's just what works for you. For example, more important than OTT or TTF is mindset. If one method gives you a rock solid mindset and another has you timid, there's your answer. If one day you used a 45 degree angle and crushed your targets all day, that might give you the psychological advantage that TTF could never give you (even if it gives you a better sighting reference). So, truly. Find what works for you. :) Team SimpleShot

Hi Nathan, It's Bob again, I've tried T.T.F. and O.T.T. and I have noticed that when I shot T.T.F, sometimes at certain distance's that the fork will cover the whole target, while if I shoot O.T.T. I have a clear sight of the target no matter what the distance, would you agree with this?

Hi Nathan, It's Bob again, I was at skeet shoot at a friend's house this weekend and I made a one hundred dollar shot with scout XT. Tom took 4 shots at a clay pigeon and missed all 4 Times. Just as a joke I said you can't hit a clay pigeon with a shot gun, I'll hit that pole that street sign is attached to from here with my slingshot , (98 feet away) 2-3/8 dia. He says B.S. Bisher if you hit that pole from here I'll give you a hundred dollars. So I let fly and tinggg you should have seen the look on his face all he could say was Me and my big mouth. I don't think he will ever live it down, but he did give me a hundred dollars!
