This is really helpful. I’ve been watching tiling videos all afternoon and nobody else has mentioned this!

my house was built in 1913, it's never seen a flat level wall in its life. Useful to know this, when tiling as a non pro I tend to think of the tiles individually, it is of course common sense that you can view them as a plate and measure and cut accordingly but it never occurred to me to do that. Much obliged. :)

That's a very smart technique! Would you recommend using the same technique when the celing is not plum by 1/2" to 3/4"?

That’s when you call me to get everything flat before you start . Thats pretty drastic

Is that grout that is in the corner or is it a trim? The reason I'm asking is I'm doing a thin grout and have a similar problem with non plumb wall and I don't know if that two-point cut will show. I'm trying to figure out what the advantage is if I'm not using a thick grout or Trim in the corner.

I planned on tiling behind my toilet wall… there’s a 12 inch spot that is about 1/2” humped up vertically beside my toilet piping. My tiles are 12x24. I am only going up about 35”, so I need it level. Can I grind that hump down and plaster it smooth and level? And use leveling clips.

You need to stagger your tiles for a more natural look and to hide any imperfections

Or plumb your back wall clips are so cheap just make it plumb for shower walls for screen and follow outside walls to save glue

So weird to here old imperial measurements

“HERE” in the US, we never switched to metric (though I wish we could, everything is bought, sold, and advertised in imperial.)

Maybe plum the walls before you start boarding/ tiling? Seems like it makes more sense 🤷🏼♂️

I furred out the walls to the best of my ability, but this is an old house and there isn't a plumb wall in sight. Thanks for your unhelpful comment.

Tile should be ran in subway tile style. It would’ve looked so much better.

This is exactly why you stagger your tiles when tiling to make it look natural
