My buddy and I have been fishing wing dams on the Mississippi north of St. Louis with mixed results. Your video has a lot of helpful info. Thanks!

I'm glad you got a nice paycheck at St. Clair. That day on the Chippewa River I caught some smallmouths with a Kietech on your guppy head, it was so low that I was able to walk right out onto a wing dam, and cast directly up river. There were a bunch of bait fish swimming around right in front of the dam.

Spot on information , I love wing dams . Best wing dams are the ones who have grass or some kind of object on them.

One of my best spots on High Rock lake in NC was an ancient Native American wing dam submerged in the very back of a tributary creek I discovered during low water in the early 90's. Killer spot in the spring and especially in the fall.

Good info again, ive never fished "True Wing Dams" With a loose interpretation of the definition we have man made structures on the The Clair river and The "D" that'll simulate current deflection that you speak of. I look forward to the day i can fish true wing dams. Rivers are always awesome to fish, thanks for the vid.

Thanks for the information Matt, I was not familiar with wing damns, but they sound to work/fish similar to the jetty’s along the gulf coast.

Wing dams are there in the river to prevent that the current (water flow) carves out a certain (piece of) bank. So the river keeps the same position in the landscape. We do NOT LIKE that are river changes its flow speed to much or suddenly hit a under water sand dune because that sediment is cut away on a certain place ( bend) and disposed at another (wider) place in the river were the flow is slower.

What are tour thoughts about fishing the BPT vs the pro circuit? Pros, cons, approach differences for each? Hope your stay in da murdamitt was pleasant.

Great stuff. Certainly love the choppo/warpig and squarebills. That Carolina is not one of my successful or confidence baits. I gotta figure out how to get snagged less with that bad boy. Great video as always Matt.

Glad you Northerners try to confuse us Southerners by calling Rock Jetties, Wing Damns. But now I know they are the samething. Arkansas River full of them. Ohio River where I'm at none...😪
