Too funny, I was just thinking I need to brew an old school Red IPA!

Those few years before and after 2009 was really a great time for craft beer. And the Brewing TV series was definitely part of the fun and is a great showcase for the era. Love Red IPAs, bring'em back!

Bells is still in the game (but only locally) w roundhouse. Our water in W MI is ideal for this style as well (I guess hard water is a benefit).

Is this a new series on dead beer styles?

Yes, now if we could only stick a fork in those hideous hazy IPA's and render them obsolete.

What happened to “Red Ale”? I find Red IPA to be the wrong hop balance. Seems no one does a standard Irish red ale anymore.

As a home brewer I brew both once a year, lots of time for both.

@@graymalkin26 Got a sharable recipe or any grist/hop preferences for Red IPA? Seems like dialing in the grains for the perfect bright red color has been tough for me. The few I've brewed tend to turn out a bit more dark than I'd like. So I leave it to the pros. Ha!

It's been about 5 years since leaving the Twin cities and I miss the Horizon Red. I guess I can make an educated guess on making my own red ale!
