Good video. I would like to add one tip. I have found it helpful to install concrete screws (tapcons) in the concrete before the repair is made. This helps to mechanically attach the patch to the concrete. We have literally installed tractor trailer loads of repair mortars over the years.

Absolutely! Great advice, sir. Didn't show it on this one to prove that the material can handle that big of a repair unassisted...but we're 100% with you on "real world" repairs!

How does that work? Do you just have half the screw exposed until you cover it with the cement patcher?

"It's still a 20 minute set, don't get cocky!!" @3:57 I love that line :) Thanks for the video it is very helpful, is there an approach you would use for a bullnose edge of pool coping repair, any suggestions on how to form that out in line with the good coping next to it?
@SakreteOfficial2 ай бұрын
No one makes concrete entertaining like our man Dirk! To answer your question about bullnose repairs, that's a tricky one. Best approach probably involves making your own custom edger that matches the radius of that existing bullnose, then using a fast-setting mix like Pro-Mix All-Purpose or Fast Setting Cement Patcher. Making your own tools sounds a little wild, but we've seen skatepark builders do this quite a bit by softening up a section of PVC with a heat gun and a little patience. Let us know how it goes and if we can help!

Great video..., 👍 Now is this recommended for a smaller cracks around the chipped cement ? My driveway has this issue in the area of 2 by 2 feet
@SakreteOfficial10 ай бұрын
Right on - glad it was helpful! On your question about the cracks, it depends if you're FILLING them or just coating over them. Sounds like a material like Top 'N Bond might be a better fit, as it allows you to go down to a feather edge - smooth to the level of the concrete. Shoot us a message on social or Live Chat us on Sakrete.com with more details and we'll figure it out!

Thanks for the video. If I'm using the bonding agent, do I still need to moisten the concrete that is being repaired with water?
@SakreteOfficial11 ай бұрын
If you're using bonding agent you SHOULD NOT use water to moisten the repair area. When you're priming for a repair, always pick one method (whether that's water, slurry coat or primer) and stick with it!

Should we broom brush it horizontal? It is kinda odd to do it vertical like in the video.

Broom in whatever direction the existing concrete is broomed in - absolutely. Good point.

What is the bonding agent used

Our product is called Bonder & Fortifier - some locations also stock a product called Concrete Glue.

The video was fun (thanks!). I'm a laywoman who dabbles in this stuff when I can't find someone to do this and it's common around here. We have uneven sidewalks due to tree roots growing. I reached out to our handyguy and even he doesn't know anyone who can do it. So, it's my job. Can I use Sakerete to form an angle on a angled sidewalk that's no greater than 2" high. I'd do a 3" section and bond it before adding more Sakerete and repeat the process. Depending on the weather, I may or may not use a snowblower and without the cement filled in, it makes snowplowing a literal pain. Tnx.
@SakreteOfficial Жыл бұрын
Fast Setting Cement Patcher would be a great solve. Go check out the "How to Repair an Uneven Slab" video for guidance! Even better, use our Pro-Mix All-Purpose Cement Mix and you can get the repair done in a single lift - 0-4" with that mix.

Will the color of the patch match the concrete when dried? I have a clean 10 year old that is power washed, so still bright in color. Great Video!
@SakreteOfficial Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it's very unlikely that you're going to get a perfect match right off the bat. That said, if your slab is still a nice, fresh concrete gray, the match will be pretty good! There are some "rapid setting" (cough) repair products that don't match concrete gray very well, but no such concerns here!

I’d like to know about using it on a driveway with a slope and some sunken areas?
@SakreteOfficial Жыл бұрын
Sounds like a perfect match. That said, sometimes those "sunken areas" are due to eroded sub-grade, so a PROPER fix would be tearing out that area, adding fill, compacting and re-pouring. That said, this would be a perfect patch for that sort of damage.

What can I use for repairs larger than 2 inches? My shed slab has pieces off that are about 4 inches deep. Thanks.
@SakreteOfficial Жыл бұрын
Pro-Mix All-Purpose Cement Mix would be a GREAT candidate for that repair. Goes up to 4" and is extremely fast, strong - and pretty user-friendly. Outside of that product, you're going to need to build a form and use any standard concrete mix.
