I got the Avalanche taking bringing it back to Colorado. Mackinnon and Makar are just straight up nasty.
Disappointed with the Leafs though, thought this might be their year. I could see some big moves coming from that roster soon.... Mitch Marner? Time will only tell. Let me know what y'all think!

As a goalie I loved playing with former NHL/AHL'ers in beer league. Watching them be the best on the ice with 50% effort is a pleasure. They will try 100% in the playoffs especially if their team is losing. Where is this game taking place?

Dude same. I have only played with/against one former AHLer, but it just feels different when it hits your pads. Even when they’re clearly not even trying. It’s a real pleasure making a save on a former pro.

I play in a fairly competitive bear league full of AAA and AA guys, and a mix of just Junior B and senior players. During Covid this guy who played 1 season in the show, and then went to the KHL came to play with us because he came home during the pandemic. He literally did what he wanted, the skill gap is so crazy, he just played D because he could just go through everyone anytime he wanted lol. so he just fed passes all game

Plus in beer league especially, you’re on the ice 3x as much on D, at least in my region. At our rink, we cap pros at 1 goal a game, except if it goes into overtime. It’s also a blast when you’re playing D, because you used to play at a high level, and someone else at a high level finally lets loose. It’s 3 seconds of bliss actually getting a chance to be competitive.

@@ryanu.4953 yeah 100% i never played that high level, junior B, and high school. But it’s awesome having someone of high calibre playing with you. Specially someone who’s still actively playing. Buddy told me just to cut in and out, and keep my stick on the ice. I was amazed at how he passed that puck. On the blade, everytime, perfect timing. I literally had to do nothing. Also his passes where like my wrist shots lol

@@itzMoJo67 I’m impressed, whenever I do heavy passes to people who didn’t play like I did it typically goes through their stick. Good job receiving it! I washed out in the qmj, and I’m pretty sure I was only there to teach English to everyone. It’s always a blast playing with my echl buddies though.

Former? Neat. Sam Girard - currently play for the Avs - skates in our A league during the summer. No idea how his agent and / or team are cool with that... funny thing is it doesn't really matter, everyone in the league are former ECLH, SPHL, and a few ex NHL players... so he doesn't really move the needle tbh. Pretty wild seeing him out there... came to a couple of my private drop-ins too, super nice guy.

A men's league in my town has had McDavid almost every year since he turned pro. And other players like Robertson, Byfield, Dermott, Landeskog and more. It seems a lot of nhlers just like summer hockey lol

I played in a beer league into my late 50's then some of the other players invited young teens who were in competitive junior hockey. Well the young fellows would go end to end every time they got the puck and never pass it. I never saw the puck again and had to quit. I've played with retired old NHL players who knew what the purpose of the league was about. To keep active and enjoy getting on the ice. They had nothing to prove and had as much fun as us regular guys. In fact the old NHLer's would pass the puck more than the regular guys. It was glorious.

Played pick up hockey with a guy who played 13 games for the Quebec nordiques basically a career minor league forced to retire in his late twenties due to knee injuries did not skate for 5 years before he played with us he was a different animal

Sorry to tell you but *Beer League* is not former NHL players, its A Division Mens Hockey... Beer league is literally drinking and smoking in the showers of the dressing rooms and 5-7 players a team show up at 11 PM to go to work the next AM...

not gonna lie, dude isn't better than 90% of summer league skaters who play Junior. He follows the puck, skates on his mates instead of finding space.. doesn't create for his team and this is a seriously low level game. Cool footage though, sometimes its difficult to read such a slow game.
