Two ways to create a submix: aux input and routing folder. Quick way to have Pro Tools create a bus to an aux input. The Do-To-Selected shortcut.

Finally a tutorial where the goal is not to impress us but to help us understand! The most valuable moments on KZbin is the little silence after an important sentence! Thank you!

KZbin recommended this video to me, and I was so glad I found it because I’m starting to mix on pro tools and saw a lot of tutorials with this folder routing organization but didn’t know how to set it up.

Been using PT since 2004 and never bothered to work out what the folders were for....who feels stupid now? Thanks for that mate!

Haha! I’m not sure they have even been around for that long? They still feel new to me too.

Thanks so much for this. That was all previously a mystery to me (probably because I didn't take the time to study the manual.) Your PT videos are a great help indeed!

Such a great tutorial, and great to see Pro Tools making it into the 1990s.

I know wth you meant. On every other DAW in the 20th century you create a bus, click solo, and you hear every track that's routed to it. In Protools, before folders, you route all your tracks to an Aux/Bus, click solo and hear nothing.

Thank you for this excellent tutorial! Just wondering, what do you use to screen capture and capture audio from ProTools to make your videos? Thanks:)

I used Camtasia (it’s a bit buggy on my Mac and I’m probably switching to something else) and Loopback for Audio it’s awesome!

So is that Routing Folder like creating a Bus out? Can the routing folder be treated like a Bus meaning can you add FX and other routing options to it? What if i wanted to have 3 toms as its own sub mix then go into the routing folder, can that be done too?
@scottwolfguitar Жыл бұрын
As I understand it, a routing folder has the same benefits as using an aux for a submix.

I notice that you use superior drummer. How do you route drums to separate tracks?

Is it the multi out version? I’m pretty sure I found a video a while back that walked through it.
