After our first 2 weeks of training, this fun getaway was JUST what we needed as a team to unwind and share some laughs together.
Our Coach warned us before the start of our first training session that the next two weeks would be difficult for us. He definitely wasn't lying. We worked our booties off. More than I ever have in my career as a volleyball player (12 years)!
These two weeks were so important for me. Not only did I really have to focus on improving my defensive skills, it taught me that I can get through anything: no matter how challenging.
In those two weeks, when I thought I hit my limit, I had to keep going. Rep after rep. Sprint after sprint. Dive after dive. I'll take that experience with me for the rest of my life.
I'll never forget doing it with the incredibly strong athletes that went through it with me. My teammates amaze me every day!
After these 2 weeks of extreme intensity, our team thought it would be a good idea to take a trip where everyone could have fun, bond, and not think about volleyball. It was the perfect thing for us.
After riding around on all of the different tubes attached to the speed boats, we ate lunch, showered, and headed to the hotel where we would all come together for a barbecue outside.
We then slept in the hotel, woke up, and made our way back to Daejeon. Breakfast was definitely not your typical savory + sweet combo that one would see in America, but was so yummy nonetheless.
I'm so thankful to my team for pushing us hard but also taking care of us more than I've ever been cared for as an athlete.
Here's to more early mornings, hard training sessions, great food, and lots of laughs.
With love,
Gia
