What an exciting challenge! It's always interesting to see how different experience levels handle the great outdoors. The beauty of the Peak District adds so much to the adventure! 💖

Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It was a fun one to make for sure and the Peaks is a great place to do it.

Awesome idea lads! I really want to get a wild camp done in the lake district but even more after this. Really enjoyed, new sub from us!
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Awesome, thanks so much for the sub guys. I've dropped one in return and will check out some of your videos. We were in the Peaks on this adventure, but the Lakes are even better. It looks like you guys are normally out in the Brecons. I don't get chance to get down there often, but it is a great place for a wild camp.

Nice camp spot and glad to see the double pole work out Mark. It’s been a game changer for the versatility when using my middus 2 for one or two people. Enjoy.
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Thanks William. Yeah, it's so good using it A-Frame style. I will be doing that more often than not going forward. I've not tested it like that in high winds yet, but for calmer nights, it's a game changer for sure.
@williammay6879Ай бұрын
@ Agreed. I’m going to try that set up in the middus on a windy night to test it. Tentatively 🤣

Thanks matey. Actually I didn't have to, he joined me in my tent for the hot toddy. Helps that it wasn't piddling down with rain and blowing a gale of course. 😂

Spot on Mark, good watch, that’s the beauty of a mid, you can use the two poles to gain more space, I wonder if will be as strong as the one pole in winds? , looked like your mate enjoyed it , saying that you did borrow him some very good lightweight kit, 🤣 atb Mick 👍
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Thanks Mick, glad you enjoyed it. Had fun putting this one together. Yeah, I'm not sure about using it A-Frame style in windy conditions. The camp I did on Friday I used two poles, but down the middle. I didn't think it was quite the time to put that to the test. 😂 I will try it out on my next windy camp though and report back. 👍🏻

Spooning helps retain heat at night. You fellas tried that?
@missogyny49212 ай бұрын
Would need the tents pitched pretty close together for that to work!
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Well I did think that Stephen, but I'm not entirely sure what his wife would have thought about us spooning. 🤷🏻😂

Is the gear that you borrowed him more betterer than what you used? Ye Gods…! 😊
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Well, that depends. The backpack I lent him is fantastic and better than the one I used. The Durston X-Mid tent is also great and many people love it, but I prefer the tent I used. The sleeping pad he used isn't as good as mine though. So it was a bit of both really. Hope you enjoyed the video. 😃

How do you find your Exped lightning compares to your Bonfus framus. I have a lightning but was going to get a framus.
@trickofthetrail2 ай бұрын
Well, I actually had to send the Bonfus Framus back, because there was an issue with the load lifters. Valley and Peak were out of stock in my size, so I haven't had chance to purchase it again. I really like the Lightning, but I do think the Framus is a better bag. Whilst it doesn't have some of the features the Lightning does, it is a better made backpack and much more stripped down, which I prefer. I think the straps can be a but fiddly on the Lightning and I find it doesn't carry quite as well as the Framus. One negative with the Framus is the side pockets. I think they should be a little bigger and I also wish they added the ability to clip the bag at the top (dry bag style). One thing I will say, is that the Lightning is great value for money I think. Whilst not the perfect bag, it presents good value for money. If you want a better made backpack though and one that carries a little better, then the Framus is for you. Does that help mate?

How long have the pole+A-frame adapter be to fit in Middus 2?
@trickofthetrailАй бұрын
Hey there. My trekking poles have a max height of 145cm and the adapters are 30.5cm. I use the ones from mountainlaureldesigns.com. That seems to work well for me. You might be able to get away with poles that are slightly smaller, but I can't confirm as this is the only setup I have tried. I hope that somewhat helps.
