Wow. I have never seen that done before. I love simplicity. Looking at the pine trees in the background, this is not a hot country.

Nice work bro! a genuine proa freak is what u are!! Keep doing what ever makes you happy with your boat, your mast is exactly where it should be. I use a back winding strut on "Why Not" and it works very well, it doesn't have to be very strong ether, mine is about 2.5 cm thick by 4 cm wide (if I remember correctly) spruce, very light.... I can get back winded as much as I want, it does add peace of mind.... I even learned how to sail him backwards (once back winded) gain speed, then throw the steering oar over till I'm ama to windward, his lateen flips over fills and off I go.... James Brett with Free Radical and his Junk rig does the same. Anyway, the simple approach is worth admiring. Keep at it, Good luck! BSY.

Yes! Awsome!! I like the pure genius of the simple low stressed, highly synergistic pacific proa!! Nice sailing! There is an organic effortless "flow" to the movement of the pacific proa that no other watercraft except skilled mastery of surfboards can exhibit.

It does feel like windsurfing at times, it feels so good to have all the forces balanced like that.

Wow that's a well balanced boat if the steering oar is optional :D Love this! I'm planning on building a aluminum one starting in September and circumnavigate the Americas. Where are you located approximately?

если установить весь положенный такелаж и поставить мачту туда где она по идее должна стоять, то работать с парусом будет одно удовольствие. А не так как сейчас))) if you install all the necessary rigging(cordage) and put the mast where it is supposed to stand, then it will be a pleasure to work with the sail. Not as it is now)))

Where do you think the mast should stand?

@@Thomas_de_Meijer I apologize in advance for my English. Based on the size of your boat, the mast heel is too close to the center of the main body. It is worth moving closer to the float. overboard. This will increase the degree of deviation of the mast. This will give stability to the mast and simplify the transfer of the sail. You have no stay (backstay) that will simplify the transfer of the sail. Now you have a chance to break the mast to the nose when transferring. with the presence of the stay's, it is possible to do the transfer of the sail while sitting on the spot (having an additional cable that pulls the sail from nose to nose for the point of convergence of the gaff and the boom). Stay's do customizable. So that they could pull and release. This can change the angle of the mast to the nose. The mast is short and the gaff on it is fixed at one point. It is made movable through beyfut. With the above equipment you can work with a sail more easily and more safely. It is possible to more flexibly adjust the sail itself by changing its center relative to the hull of the boat. You will get additional pleasure from the walk. Yes, it seemed to me that your sail is somewhat small and therefore must constantly lead the boat to the wind. Those. its center is strongly shifted to the nose. Thank.
