Labor laws in Erewhon require factory owners to give every worker a holiday whenever one of them has a birthday and to hire without discrimation on grounds of the birthdays. Except for these holidays they work a 365-days year. The owners want to maximize the expected total number of man-days worked per year in a factory. How many wokers in factories have in Erewhon

Four army recruits went to the supply room to get their military boots. Their shoe sizes were 7, 8, 9 & 10. The supply officer, after being informed of their sizes, prepared the four pairs of boots they need. If the boots are handed to each of the four recruits at random, what is the probability that... exactly 3 of them will receive the correct shoe size? A. 1/16 C. 1/12 B. 1/24 D. 0 all of them will receive the correct shoe size? A. 1/16 C. 1/12 B. 1/24 D. 0 none of them will receive the correct shoe size A. 3/8 C. 1/16 B. 23/24 D. 5/12 Would you help me with this one? Thank you .

D, B, B. On the first question, you don't need to solve. Analyze the situation. There are 4 shoes, 3 of them got their correct sizes; it's now impossible for the last person to pick the wrong shoe since the three recruits got their corresponding sizes. The last person will automatically get the right size. That's why the answer is zero. ---------- On the second question, The equation will be (1/4)(1/3)(1/2)(1)= "1/24" For 1/4: The first person will always have the maximum probability to pick the wrong shoe since the choices are not segregated yet. In those four shoes, only one of them is his size. Therefore the probability of him getting the correct shoe size is "1/4." FOR 1/3: Since the first person got his shoe, there were only 3 shoes to choose from, and one of them is his. Therefore the probability of the second recruit to pick his correct size is "1/3." FOR 1/2: There are only two shoes left. So the third recruit has a 50% chance of picking his size. 50% is 1/2 in fraction. Therefore 1/2 is the probability of the third officer picking his size. For 1: Just look at my explanation in the first paragraph. ------------- Question 3: The summation of all probability is 100% or 1. Just substrate their probably in getting the correct size to 1 in fraction to get the probability of them getting the wrong shoe. "1- 1/24 =23/24" (This is the working equation) I don't know if you need my explanation at this time, since my reply is 2 yrs late 😂. Hopefully, other people will look at your comment and try to answer it as well. This will serve as their guide.

Good day! Just wanna ask if a problem does not state if it wish to calculate the population or sample variance, would I consider it as population or as sample? Please enlighten me. Thank you.
@EngineerProfPH4 жыл бұрын
The problem should state if the data is a sample or whether it is the whole population. Change your divisors for measures of dispersion to n-1.
@gravengraves8614 жыл бұрын
@@EngineerProfPH sorry sir. But the problem does not state if it is a sample or population. It simply gives the data. That is why I am confused. In some reference they took it as sample, in some they took it as population. I don't know which one I should follow

Can you pls, input the problem here? Lets do some analysis😄

@@EngineerProfPH Find the standard deviation of 11, 13, 16, 18, 20 and 22. Like this one sir. Some consider it as population while others consider it as a sample.
@EngineerProfPH4 жыл бұрын
@@gravengraves861 Hi. You should consider this as a population since its not stated as a sample. That is the fundamental. Treating this as a population is the right way of analysis.
