Just bought the same one on your recommendation. Noticed that mine (and yours) doesn't have a pin in the safety valve. Photos online show that they are suppose to have them. Do you know whether this is the case?
@TryingToBuildStuff

@leigh7031 Жыл бұрын
Regulation changed to stop the rings being fitted. People were pulling them to drain the compressor which wears the safety relief valve and doesn't drain the water from the tank. Removing them forces people to drain from the correct place at the bottom tank drain.

Can it be used for aerating my rainbird sprinkler system?
@TryingToBuildStuff
@TryingToBuildStuff 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, to be honest, I don't have a sprinkler system, but I did some reading and some simple calculations. Apparently the recommended CFM (cubic feet / minute) for blowing out sprinkler systems is 25. While the PSI should remain around 50. From my (highly unreliable) calculations this compressor should be able to deliver up to 116PSI and a CFM of 148 (based on Wikipedia, that 1 CFM = 0,4719474L/m, and this one delivers 70L/m). Guessing you need to do it several times though since the tank size is just above 2 gallons (8L). Again, I'm really not sure, but if what I've concluded is correct, this should do the trick :) If someone else knows more about this, please leave a comment, this was an interesting question! :)
@markogulin3443
@markogulin3443 Жыл бұрын
@@TryingToBuildStuff 1 CFM equals about 30 LPM, so 70 LPM translates to just below 2.5 CFM. This is way below the recommended minimum value of 20 CFM for sprinkler systems.

You're right about sound amplitude not being "twice as loud" at 120 dB vs 60 dB. However, humans perceive sound in a logarithmic fashion, which is why decibels do actually feel linear.

I think the safety valve on your compressor might not be complete (the thing on the left of the tank manometer). There is supposed to be an orange plastic cover and a pin that you can pull out to test the valve (i think?). I took mine back to the store and got it changed to one that had the valve. They opened many boxes and saw that almost all of them were missing. There might be a manufacturing error. Beware

That's very quiet! If you are worried about the volume of air you could always buy and connect a big tank to that tiny one. Pro: more continous airflow- if you need to spraypaint something you would need this, otherwise your paintjob would suck badly when the rank gets more empty. Con: your compressor would need to work for a longer time to get to 8 bar when you have the bigger airtank.

It's not the best air compressor because i does not have a moisture trap in the system like 99% of others do. Therefore water droplets are blown directly onto the work which can obviously cause havoc depending on what you're using it on. It's pretty much unusable for anything other than blowing away cobwebs, unless you're happy spray water all over the object you are working on.
