I actually really respect your decision to keep your dreamsnaps private until you receive your results. That seems the most fair to me and refreshing to know that you do that. Another great video as always!
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I decided to keep my snaps private when dreamsnaps first kicked off, mostly because I knew I wanted to help others, and I didn't want anybody thinking my achievements were due to an underlying advantage as a creator. I will say, I haven't really seen any *real* or *tangieable* evidence of an advantage for creators who do share their snaps. There are creators much larger than me who share their snaps regularly, and it hasn't seemed to impact their ranking. So, when other creators *do* decide to share their snaps early, it doesn't bother me at all! I just figured, if I want people to *believe* I know what I'm doing, I need to prove myself. I need to prove that my position as a creator has not impacted my ability to create snaps or rank high consistently. I also rather enjoy revealing my submission after getting results. It's fun and carries an element of surprise/intrigue! 😁

I do this too! There’s so many groups on social media that everyone is posting theirs before voting and complaining about people “copying” them. I’d just much rather wait to post until after

As a lover of Dreamsnaps I was continuously disappointed in my score. I would put hours into decorating the scene and even having a back story for the 'snap, only to get 900 or getting overly excited upon receiving 2500 moonstones. I don't like to share my work or take directional advice on my dreamsnaps in a public forum (I salute those that are brave enough to do so) Implementing the guidelines Probably_Senpai shares in this video I now consistently receive 4000 moonstones week after week. The research and talent and time put into this video is evident and sharing it freely is mind blowing.

As a professional watercolor artist (and experienced photographer) IRL, these tips are very well researched and highly valued by professional creative people. The concepts of “perspective”, the “golden hour” and color autonomy have been used by master artists for hundreds of years. They are not “tricks”, but deeply ingrained into humans and the visuals they finding pleasing. It’s part science and part art. Very deep stuff here, Senpai. Loved it!

@wendyetherington7493 Thank you, Wendy! I'm very glad you appreciate the thought that went into this guide! It took quite a while to put together, but I feel it was well worth the effort in the end. All these comments are just reviews and testimonials for Probably Senpai’s tips and I’m here to add my five star review! I just started playing Disney Dreamlight Valley and I had only entered one Dreamsnap before watching this video. I was a little worried because, as a new player, I didn’t have a huge range of items or beautifully decorated biomes. But I followed these tips the best I could, and the first week I got 2,500 moonstones and every week after that I’ve been awarded 4,000!!! Still absolutely shocked when I see my rewards. This is, hands down, the BEST guide to Dreamsnaps. Thank you Probably Senpai! Now I can actually buy what I want in the Premium Shop!

Then I learned all about the tags system from you in your streams and that changed everything. My wife and I finally got our very first 4000 Moonstone reward! We always put a lot of effort into our Dreamsnaps and before this the most we ever got was 1500 Moonstones. I’m a former pro photographer so the first sections of this video were in my wheelhouse. (PS- the freestyle camera option has some very frustrating limitations, mainly the forced downward angle that won’t allow you to include higher background objects). But the last segment of this video and about high value items was extremely helpful and eye-opening. I’ve been absolutely puzzled why so many low-effort photos (some very low effort) keep showing up in the voting feed. Thank you for doing the research and sharing the results with us!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Also, you're right about "free control!" The "free control" mode has some very frustrating limitations and I hope they update it one day. Though, as mentioned in the video, it does offer some great utility. The limitations on "free control" are why I consider portrait mode to be the most reliable.

I really regret purchasing this game for switch. I feel you can do so much more with pc. Seems like decorating is so difficult and posing lacks. Thanks for the tutorial Senpai!🎉
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
I mean... any game is better on PC compared to a Switch. 😅 That said, posing is actually the same across all platforms. It just looks better due to high graphic presets. The only differences between Switch and PC are the item limit, adjustable graphics, and the ability to play on the mouse and keyboard (instead of just controller). As far as Dreamsnaps go, we have several Nintendo Switch players in our Discord who get into the top 100 ranks every week. I personally know a few Switch players who out rank nearly 90% of PC players. I recommend being more active in Discord servers if you can and paying close attention to just how often Switch players appear in the top 1000. (It's a surprisingly high amount...) Anyway, thanks for watching and your welcome for the tutorial!

Yeah, it would be really nice to have full creative freedom for dreamsnaps. Though, it's not all bad. The current system forces me out of my comfort zone a lot by making me use things that I may not want to use. Finding a way to make a scene or an outfit with these limitations adds a fun and challenging element to the game. Though... I would still prefer total creative freedom. 😅

I was consistently getting 4000 moonstones on every dream snaps and I mean for almost a full year then the last two or three updates came along where I could not move my camera and I’m lucky to get 1200. I adhere to all of the topics they want me to use and it’s a very visually pleasing dream snap and I cannot use the camera the right wayto get my 4000 moonstones again.

I feel like when spending time setting up the photo, you get a lot more return for your time if you work on basic composition rather than fussing over stuff. Like you can spend hours trying to get the perfect pose, and that will give only minor improvements compared to like building out the background.
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
I typically do things in this order: Choose where I want to take the photo > choose my angle > decorate everything > bring villagers or companions in if needed > snap photo. I don't know why a player would be worried about a "pose" if they haven't finished decorating... Also, I'm slightly confused about what you said about "hours trying to catch the perfect pose" as it only takes a few seconds to capture a pose? Were you actually referring to villager animations? Because, that's only necessary if you're using it for a "wow factor" and it doesn't take hours. 😂 Took me all of 10 minutes to get the Scrooge coin flip.
@Lilitha116 ай бұрын
@@Probably_Senpai I said pose but I guess I mean more like minor angle or placement adjustments. Like, "oh this foreground flower would look better if I move it an inch to left." Or "Oh I can see this house better over my shoulder if I stand slightly to the right." That can improve a photo but it is easy to waste a lot of time nitpicking over very minor details that probably will not effect your score.
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
@Lilitha11 So you're talking about composition? The placement of elements within your submission? 👁👄👁 Making sure elements are arranged properly and making sure a photo has good balance can most certainly improve your rank... 😅 Most dreamsnaps I see that focus entirely on the background don't get 4K. Foreground, midground, and back ground are all equally important... and the way you arrange elements determines how effective they are. That said... I agree that spending hours moving one thing around isn't the best use of time.
@Lilitha116 ай бұрын
@@Probably_Senpai I am specifically talking about fussing over minor things at the expensive of the overall image. It is easy to get distracted by one cool effect, or interesting item, or idea you have and spend a lot of time fussing around just one item(or character or whatever). Then you don't have any time to work on anything else. I mean if you have the time you should adjust things, and that is also part of the fun. I am just saying the overall composition is normally more important than any single element. So don't like, spend 6 hours on the background, and then 30 seconds on the foreground because you ran out of time. Basically, don't tunnel vision on one thing and try to have a well balanced composition. I am not saying, you shouldn't have any attention to detail. I am just saying improving the overall composition usually gives better results than focusing on one very specific thing.
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
@Lilitha11 Yeah, like I stated in the previous reply, I agree with that sentiment. Spending hours moving around or focusing on one thing isn't the most efficient use of your time. Though, it also kind of depends on what that element is and why the player thinks it's so important. It all comes down to doing the most with the time you have or are willing to spend on a submission. I agree that it's always better to focus on the bigger picture rather than get too caught up in a minor detail. This was also addressed in the video when I spoke on "overworking" a dreamsnap. Even if everything else is already perfect, getting caught up on getting some other "small" detail just right can actually lead to you losing a better submission.

How to you bring so much caracters at one place? I find it extremely beautiful but I don’t understand how is it possible!!!
@Probably_SenpaiАй бұрын
There are several ways to do this. You can use items like the Coco stage, Ursula Stage, or Bonfire to "summon villagers" with your camera... Or you can do it the hard way. Step one. Ask a villager to hang out. Step Two. Bring them to whatever biome you want them in. Step 3. Trap them there with fences or items they can't walk through. Step 4. Repeat this process with as many villagers as necessary.

I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. You referred to the Switch as an older platform that won't blur the background (if I remember correctly). I have the newest/larger version of Switch, so does that issue continue from the original blue/red Switch? Secondly, I just took the photo for the marketplace challenge. I "hung out" with Mirabel, but she never released butterflies, no matter which camera setting I used. Thank you for your helpful videos, I enjoy them immensely. I've only been doing dreamsnaps for a couple of months, so I appreciate your tips. I learned just from watching your parade of dreamsnaps. 😊
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
Hey Steen! I'd be more than happy to answer your questions! First, concerning the Nintendo Switch it doesn't matter which version of the Switch you have or how recent it came out. It's still an older platform. A brand-new Switch has the same processor, same RAM, and same capabilities as all of the other Switch platforms. The only thing that has changed with the Switch over the last several years is the screen. Switching from LCD to OLED. Though, the platforms performance has not been improved. Eventually, Nintendo will release the Switch 2 or Switch Pro which is supposed to have better hardware and processing potential. Second, the reason Mirabel won't do the animation is quite simple! Villagers you hang out with WILL NOT do any animations (except for selfie animations) if you are hanging out with them! If you want to capture a photo of Mirabel with her butterfly animation you will need to hang out with her, bring her to the photo shoot sight, trap her with items she can't walk through, and tell her "Let's hang out later" Once you are no longer hanging out with her, she will passively and randomly perform her animations. A tip for trapping villagers, anything you can't walk through yourself, a villager also can't walkthrough. You can use rocks, decor, and even small plants to trap villagers. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I can tell you right now that they have a problem, a glitch which they have not fixed. When I tried to zoom in or out on my dream snap or change the perspective, it won’t do it. My dream snap is locked to the exact position that I opened up my camera to.this has been going on for the last two or three updates once in a while and I mean only once did it unlock my camera so I could move it around.
@SkyJem6 ай бұрын
I have that glitch on PS4. It locks after accessing Furniture/Clothing/Inventory (mostly Furniture mode). The only way I can get it to unlock is a complete console restart (just closing and reopening the game doesn’t work). The problem is that it will just lock again after accessing furniture mode. I do my best to decorate and then restart to use my camera for the dreamsnap. It’s definitely not ideal.
@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
This bug can occur on all platforms. It happens to me all the time. I'm hoping it gets patched with the Mulan update. If you restart your game, it will resolve this issue. It's annoying but that's the only work around I've found for now.
@Dfoto6796 ай бұрын
What are the thing that still happening is there are what appears to be a bare spot in my dreams snap where I should be able to play something but it shows red like something is there. And there is nothing around there. That would take up that space.I’m getting disgusted with dream snaps and I think this game should fix itself ASAP. Start working on all the glitches and make them really done.

The people who just do the whole "puts the top high value items in the snap and call it day"...I typically don't vote for their snap. I just don't find them appealing. I have had instances where there were two of those snaps put together for me to vote for I just skip them if they don't appeal to me. I feel it's just lazy lol Of course, I'm not talking about the people who have just started or just don't have the items to do the snap but I find that generally those people do put in more effort than just putting in four high value items.

@Probably_Senpai6 ай бұрын
It depends on the angle, as discussed in the video. If you capture the setting sun, it does make several elements of the photo hard to see. However, if you face your camera AWAY from the setting sun it actually makes the photos way easier to see. (A good example of this would be the Savanna style submission in this video. It was the dreamsnap featuring Simba and Nala. It was taken during the golden hours, and it got rank 15. Very easy to see.)
