I worked at the company Balance Technology in Ann Arbor Mich and make those balancing machines..early 70's..great machines the worker was impressive!

No guy, the pistons must have already been weight matched, but he did balance the rods and the crank. It's all there in the video.

Do u think all are done like that or just when it's being videoed

Nice job! Pistons were also weight matched??? How did you equalized wrist pins weight??? Was that crankshaft knife edged??? Regards!

athalfridhu You weigh each wrist pin and grind the insides of them to match the lightest wrist pin, or you can mix heavier wrist pins with lighter pistons to come closer for less grinding.

So how would you correct any weight difference on the bearings and rings?
@equinoxfpv1738 жыл бұрын
You don't. You put the heavier rings on the lighter piston

the balancing can be improve?

What masses do counterweights counteract? I'm told it is so it cancels the balancing momentum created by the rotating excentric parts. And those parts include the rod big end and 1/3 of the main beam longitud closest to the big end bearing. The rest of the rod is considered like it's got linear movement so it cant be cancelled by rotating counterweights. However I read in a lot of places that1 counterweights must have mass to equlibrate balancing momentum of half of the linear motion parts aswell as the rotating excentric masses of the mechanism which does not makes sense at all cause you cannot companset linear inertias with rotatig mases. ¿does anyone know? ¿do you have any refferences?

No they only balanced that crank... :-| Obviously they do that for all if you pay for the balance!!!!!
