Picked up one of these this past weekend, you were adjusting the hopup, its just super fine adjustments meaning you gotta really crank it a few times before it starts to take effect but you can super fine tune it.

I some what had the same problem with my GTP9 where I couldn’t get the hop to adjust. I had to strip it down to the barrel and basically max it out, then lower the hop to where I wanted it. It has a lot of adjustments, maybe to much. Might work for you

On the one hand it seems like a crazy notion to ever just unbox a gun new and expect to be able to play it just like that, but on the other I don’t know many other activities where we just lump defective equipment so unquestioningly. It’s easy to forget until you are talking with an outsider, as I did fettling a gun on a friend’s land with a very decent amount of range and he just couldn’t believe id forked out serious cash on something I then needed to put hours into making useable and I was like “uh, yeah, guess that is crazy”. It is better now than when I started a decade ago, but if this series of reviews starts to push manufacturers and retailers to accept out-of-the-box skirmishability as a benchmark that would be amazing. As it stands, with only a few exceptions this isn’t the case.

I have the gen one version and have had no problems once it was broken in. I am getting 100 ft in a body size grouping. Any farther and it spreads out. Just fyi.

This is gonna sound salty but is it so hard for airsoft manufacturers to drill a small hole in the bottom part of the magazine, wide enough to feed the bb's through it, to avoid feeding through the mag lips, or do they do it intentionally so that you break the lips easier and have to buy a whole new mag because they don't sell spare mag lips either ?

It depends how much you want to spend. Everyone's got an M4 so if something happens, they can help you troubleshoot it. If you have a budget of $200 US, a lot of people like Specna Arms or G&G Combat Machine, though, for the price, G&Gs is a little over priced, but are known for being reliable as hell. If you can drop 250ish, Krytac Alpha. Also, do not skimp out on eye protection, since you're trying to get into it. You can also go the AK route, and get a decent CYMA AK.
