Maverick is one of the most unique roller coasters at the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio! The ride opened in 2007 and has delivered thrills to millions of riders with its snappy transitions and fast pacing. In this video, I present my thoughts on the ride as well as an in-depth look at how the ride operates! I hope you enjoy!

I keep getting told that I have to go back to Universal (the last time I was there was long before the days that Velocicoaster stalked the park like its namesake). Tough decision between Sea World/Busch Gardens and Universal. I wish that there was a special for all three! I think that it's a shame that riders were not allowed to decide whether or not the Maverick's heartline was too intense. When are they going to learn that too coaster enthusiasts, as long as I don't have any blood vessels burst in my eyeballs, it's not too intense! I think that sometimes, passing out is a risk you have to take! At least Velocicoaster has it, and proves that riders can take it after all, but I think that Ohioans shouldn't have to travel halfway across the country to experience it!

I operated maverick for the 2008 season and I remember when one of the trains had to be removed from the track because it rolled back on the horseshoe roll. I love the vibe it gives off while in the queue, the old building and western theming really hypes it up and you can faintly hear the launch every couple minutes and it makes the coolest sound, almost like some old tnt going off, then you get on the ride and the canyon theming is great as well as all the beautiful landscaping. Also being on the coast of the lake it always gets the best views of the sunset. It’s a full package

Here for the “My first Time” story. My friends dad took us to CP for the day, and for the first time in my life, would occasionally let us teens walk around by ourselves a bit. Maverick was our last ride of the night- our way of fighting leaving the park since it was a 2- hour wait. The park would close well before that, but if you’re in line, you ride! We waited so long we sat down in the line. Reaching the station, we decided what’s another 2 minutes for front row? It was the MOST incredible ride and remained my favorite for years. I’d always ride it no matter the wait. Last time I visited, mav was shut down so I couldn’t compare steel ven. to maverick that day.

I rode this many years ago and it was an absolute blast. My wife, who about hates how I comment on features as we ride along, was pleased to see me so excited about this ride. It was compact, fast, and full of fun. I love twisty coasters that keep the excitement going start to finish.

I finally got to go to Cedar Point a few years ago and yeah, this ride was easily a top 3 ride for me at Cedar Point. The 95 degree drop is so insane feeling, and also I love coasters with a second launch, like the stunt coaster at king's dominion. Also, I LOVE the modern straps on Maverick, makes the ride feel so smooth and basically guarantees no neck/shoulder pain. I also love the straps on Intimidator 305 for this reason. Great video!

OHHHH That’s why when I was on the first train of the day on Maverick the train stopped in the launch tunnel. It’s probably because the test train in front of us was empty and got slowed down too much by the magnetic brakes. This video explained a lot of stuff to me, thx Ryan

It's been awhile since I've made a comment after getting the captions done, but given that during the 'final review' stage, I kept having to back up 'cause I was watching the coaster instead of the captions, this one deserves to be immortalized as the one I MOST want to ride out of those I've done so far. Back when I first started watching your videos, it struck me how you're really great at clearly describing the ride experience, and using multiple POVS and footage, so that I can actually understand the layout in a single viewing (no easy feat, given my brain's difficulty grasping spatial concepts). And, in the time since then, you've only gotten better. 😎🍍

"I actually liked the orange straps" *actually got a massive headache from them* Truthfully I think the height was because of those original straps. They were hard and short people banged their heads into them, not their necks. Idk which is worse but at 5'7 I experienced the head banging. I loved it anyways, but man, I avoided riding multiple times. Now I don't!
@ace2011

Exactly, even as a seasoned rider I struggled to keep my head from getting bashed around on them. Changing the straps made this ride go from one my wife (who mostly only rides coasters because of me) refused to ride more than once a trip, IF I could talk her into that, to one of her favorites that she will ride as many times as we're able to get on it. Definitely a huge improvement.
