10:10 in your video, I believe part of the second part of your equation in Question 2 was cut off on the right hand side. I am not understanding how you came up with 0.0588m. Could you kindly explain the steps that you did not draw out in your lecture? Thanks in advance.

You can easily calculate the value of x as we already have value of all the variables in that equation. The value of Area (A) is same for all walls as mentioned in 6:55. Check 6:55 to know how you can get the values of A and ∆t.

hello sir can i ask if the thermal conductivity in Kelvin, do we need to change Temperature unit in Kelvin too?
@MechDimension4 жыл бұрын
You don't need to change that because here we are taking temperature difference in the formula. Temperature difference come out same in both cases. You can try it yourself. But you need to be careful while writing the unit. For avoiding any error you can convert temperature in same unit as thermal conductivity.

Why are you comparing ht by conduction and ht by convection in last problem..
@yahitajam79444 жыл бұрын
Sir, in second problem how is heat transfer by conduction is equal to heat transfer by thermal convection
@MechDimension4 жыл бұрын
Here we are only dealing with conduction, not convection. I have not equated conduction and convection in problem 2. Can you specify the time of the video where you have doubt?

Can you explain how you got the value of x in second problem?
@MechDimension4 жыл бұрын
@@osgnaywang967 Again refer to Case 2 in the solution of problem 2. First, we formed the equation of Q2 in terms of x, after that we used the condition given in the question. Just open the video and refer the Case 2 again.

I don't understand the change in temperature used in solving the second question and how the length of the third wall was gotten.
@MechDimension3 жыл бұрын
Please check 07:07 The outer surrounding temperature is taken as wall outside temperature and inner surrounding temperature as the inside wall temperature. Think of it as a house wall where t1 is inside house and t2 is outside.

why are we not considering 3 walls in second prblem
@MechDimension3 жыл бұрын
Read the question properly. I have used 2 walls to calculate Q1 and 3 walls to calculate Q2 and then compared it according to the condition stated in the question.

The heat transfer by definition=the thermal conductivity * delta T (correct) A=L*H=0.22*standard hight(3m) =0.22*3=.66(not correct).

Your calculation is false in question 1 , your value is in m not in meter square.
@MechDimension2 жыл бұрын
Answer is correct. Consider the unit of k in numerator also. Unit of k is W/m°C, unit of Temperature is °C, and unit of length is m. When you put all these in the equation you get the required unit as W/m^2
