I’ve owned the GoFind66 for a few weeks now and found a major flaw in their design.

Thank you very much for your honesty. It is very important for who is going to buy a product to know how it works and how long it lasts. BEST REGARDS.

The rear slide is broken your fault. You need to press down on both red buttons to operate it. I did the same mistake. Lucky for me they replaced it at no cost.
@wkcinaz3 жыл бұрын
The red button only opens the swing arm. The slider is just held by dimples. What happened was the fine dirt wore down the dimples and it stopped holding the arm in place.
@jamescairns34532 жыл бұрын
Yes it's caused the " curse of plastic" the slide soon gets grit/sand on it which wears away the surfaces. But that is not the main problem, as my old GO-FIND 40 flexes badly when fully extended even with the cuff strap! I have attached an L-shaped metal brace between the handle and top of shaft using velcro straps. That way I can remove brace & still fold up the detector. As you rightly say it needs re-designing ASAP!

I also had my unit start to fail but on the opposite side near the coil. I still love the machine as a backup compared to my Garrett AT Pro, but the Minelab certainly has issues.

can you replace under warranty?
@GuyandLori4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if it were a copy. I see Go Find 66 models for extremely low prices on eBay which obviously are not Minelab. Glad I bought the real thing from Minelab. It seems to be a great unit to learn on and if I get hooked (which seems likely) I'll upgrade and stick with a higher level Minelab like the Equinox. Thanks for the detailed video; nice work.

I just sent Minelab some photos so they could investigate it a little more. It’s hard to say for sure, but I’ll post here the update I get from them if any. I’ve seen those on eBay and have always reported them. I’ve leaned my lesson about buying from Amazon or eBay. I’ll buy from a dealer from now on. In fact I just bought a new simplex from a dealer. Happy hunting. It is very addicting.

Get Down And Dirty Prospecting I bought it mainly to carry around in my backpack and do some metal detecting before work. I travel to many places for work so this metal detector was a good option for me. I also have an X-terra 705 gold. It’s awesome. I’ll save up and buy the Equinox 800. Cheers.

As light as it is, could it be used without the arm cuff? Or maybe you could rig a holding button or pin it in place?
@wkcinaz2 жыл бұрын
You could, but this was almost new. It should last longer than that before you have to start modifying it. Thanks.

I think the blue tooth app is a gimmick on this machine. I found the same problem with back rest but it took 2 years constant use. I like yr honesty. I think u bought yours as a copy. I got mine from miners den in Adelaide south Australia. Found heaps with it though.

It's their cheapest line of machines... I don't think they put a lot of money into it as a whole. Plus, you're dealing with plastic parts, which aren't designed to go through a bunch of friction cycles and not grind down, especially when dirt gets in there
@wkcinaz4 жыл бұрын
Urban Outdoorsman you’re right, but it only lasted less than 3 weeks. Minelab was surprised it wore out so quickly. They said they’re designed to outlast the warranty even under heavy use. The performance of the machine was great for what it was.

Hello friend, excellent video, I have the GoFind 40 and I have been giving some problems, when I am in the field the detector begins to sound like an alarm and I cannot remove it, I turn it off and leave it for about 20 minutes, turn it on and the alarm disappears, but after 5 minutes it starts again and I can't use it.
@wkcinaz4 жыл бұрын
Is it still under warranty? You should try a different brand of batteries. I don’t know what brand you’re using now, but sometimes cheap batteries aren’t good for electronics.

How do you break the slide? The plastic dips that hold it in place wore down. I really wish it didn’t break because it is a fun little machine.
@cdavey95632 жыл бұрын
Buy a real mine lab at 8 to 10k then then the slides don't break . And gently used is not that filthy. I have used detectors that are new to 25 years old in way better condition take care of them
